Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent claiming to be from Homeserve, asking questions about my boiler. I’ve never signed up with them. She even brought up my mum’s name, who sadly passed away in 2006, and she had no links with that company either. I told the caller I’m on the TPS and that’s my ex’s number she called from. Definitely sounded like a scam to me. I later checked with Homeserve and they don’t recognise the phone number or have any info about my family at all.

Whenever I get a call from a number I don't know, I usually just stay silent when I answer. Most of the time, the call ends after a few seconds, which I see as a win. These calls are often dialed automatically. If the system hears any sound, it’ll connect you to a real person. But if it doesn’t detect a voice, it just hangs up and tries the next number. I've gone ahead and blocked that number now.
