Caller hid their number, said they was from Oracle doing work for United Utilities Shares team... sounded like a woman with a foreign accent... when I told her I didn’t have any shares [which I don’t] and asked how many I had, she just hung up on me... definitely a scam of some sort.

This number has rung me a few times this past week on my home phone. I usually dont pick up unless I know who it is. If its something important they’ll leave a message for me to ring back. Every time I answer and hear that automated “sorry, we can’t take your call” thing, the call just ends. Reading the comments here proves to me it’s just another scam call.

Phoned an older, vulnerable person and said they were from Sky looking for Mrs ###### (wrong name I think?). I told them they’d got the wrong person as no one by that name lives here or has that service. They just said they’d fix their info and then hung up straight away!

I received a call from what seems to be an insurance firm regarding home appliances. I think the name was something like 'Stanley' or similar. They come across as genuine, though they can be quite a nuisance on occasion. I wouldn’t fret too much about it, though.

Got a call about some washing machine warranty scam. I messed about with them for a bit, asked about this supposed £700 lifetime cover. Then they put me on to another bloke, and I asked if anyone had ever actually fallen for this dodgy sales pitch. He said he figured I wouldn’t buy it, so didn’t want to waste time. I told him I was enjoying the chat. Told him to find a proper job and asked how he could live with himself doing this, especially preying on older folks. His name was Tom. Sounded like it was someone with an Indian accent making the call.

Received a dodgy call about a washing machine warranty today. I decided to have a bit of fun with them, inquiring about their so-called £700 lifetime insurance. When they transferred me to another chap, I couldn’t resist asking if anyone had actually been taken in by their sales pitch. To my surprise, he suggested I clearly wasn’t interested and wouldn’t waste any more of his time. I chimed in, telling him he was mistaken, as I was thoroughly entertained by the whole charade! I urged him to find a proper job and questioned how he could rest easy at night, especially knowing how these tactics prey on vulnerable elderly folks. The fellow’s name was Tom, but it did have the feel of an overseas call, possibly Indian in origin.

Total scammer for sure. He kept saying he was from Sky and that my insurance needed renewing. When I asked for the renewal date (which is in JULY, by the way) and the policy number, he couldn’t give me either. So I told him to get lost and bother someone else.

Somebody rang me up asking for me by my last name, saying the warranty on my Sky gear had run out. I told them I wasn’t impressed with the unsolicited call and that they had no clue what equipment we’ve got since we don’t even have Sky. They tried to say it could have been ages ago. I said we haven’t had Sky here for over 20 years and they were talking rubbish before I ended the call. If Sky was ever here, it was under a different name, so this was definitely a dodgy phishing attempt.

Be careful, this is a warranty scam happening loads recently. They target older people who might not spot it straight away. If you get a call like this, make sure to report it to the police through Action Fraud. Just google 'Action Fraud', find the official 'police.uk' page, head to the 'reporting' area and mark it as phishing. You don’t even have to sign up or anything. The police need everyone to report these so they can gather enough info to tackle these scams properly.

I received a call from a number that requested me by my surname, insisting that the warranty on my Sky gear had run out. I informed them that I'm not keen on these unsolicited calls, and pointed out their ignorance about the equipment we possess, as we haven't had Sky for ages. They mentioned it could have been quite a while back, to which I replied that there’s been no Sky service here for two decades. Their nonsense was quite laughable, and I promptly ended the conversation. To be honest, if Sky had ever been linked to this address, it would have been under a completely different surname. Clearly, it was merely a phishing attempt!

I've been bombarded with numerous calls from this number, insisting that my washing machine's warranty has expired. When I probed them about the model I'm using, they seemed utterly flummoxed. It's clear these are just nuisance calls attempting to peddle insurance policies. What’s more, I'm noticing they keep switching up the last six digits while originating from the same area, pushing everything from cooker cover to Sky, freezer protection, you name it! I just received another call from them about thirty minutes ago. If anyone manages to track down their address, do let the rest of us know; we might just pay them a visit to express our discontent!

Just like a lot of others here - on 14.2.20 at 5.40pm, I got a call about my Washing Machine Warranty being expired and if I wanted to renew it with three different price options. The priciest one actually cost more than what I paid for the machine! What really freaked me out was they even knew the exact Model and my home address. Ive never bought any warranty except the one from John Lewis.

So I’ve ended up blocking the number on my landline. I really can’t stand how these firms are allowed to keep doing this.

They rang me on the 7th of February but didn’t leave any message. Kept phoning over and over all day, even late into the night until about 10.00pm! Definitely a SCAM. MAKE SURE YOU REPORT IT!

Got a call from some guy named Mike, sounded Asian, saying my washing machine warranty was up. Thing is, my warranty's still valid, so pretty sure it was just a dodgy scam.

Someone rang our home landline, asking about Sky TV at my father-in-law's place. He passed away a decade ago and never had Sky anyway. The only company that had both my number and his address was British Gas. Do you reckon they've been selling their contact details?

01273091000 Washing machine warranty up? Got through to a guy with an Asian accent. Played it clueless, told him 'my missus sorts all that stuff'. Said ask us again on Monday. If they call again, I'm sorted to deal with it!

Got a call from someone saying they were with Sky and they even knew my address. They asked if I wanted to renew my contract or switch plans for the upcoming year. Problem is, I don't have Sky at all.

Rings a couple times then just stops, clearly one of those call centre auto diallers that hang up when all the agents are busy and can’t put you through. These auto dialling call centres really should be banned, they’re so annoying.

Got a call from an Asian bloke saying my washing machine warranty had expired. I told him my washer’s second hand so I never had any coverage. He then asked if I wanted to cancel it. I said how can I cancel something I never even had? He claimed he had my info and said I took out the warranty in January 2019 and paid £100 for it. Proper pushy guy, called me three times! This is total nonsense, I bought it off Facebook Marketplace second hand, no way there’d be any cover. Such a scam, no thanks!

At 12:45 pm on 14/1/20, a bloke named Martin from Premium Protect rang me. He asked for me by name and said the washing machine warranty had run out. When I asked for the model number, he couldn’t give it to me, saying it was info just for their engineer.

It was def a call centre cos of all the noise I could hear, but they just dropped the call as soon as I didnt pick up straight away. I usually wait a sec or two before I say anything or hang up when I reckon it’s a promo or dodgy call - those types never seem to wait around!

They've rang me a couple times in the last three days and always hang up right when my answer machine starts.

Got a rather stubborn lady calling me to try and get me to buy an extended warranty on my washer and fridge, claiming my warranty had ended that exact day! Funny thing is, I’ve had almost the same call a few times this month, each time she said the warranty had just run out. She wasn’t ready to back off tho. I asked if I could talk to a manager to have my number taken off their list but apparently there wasn’t one around. She was the one who ended the call in the end!

Got a call from 01273091000 a moment ago, as soon as I picked up they just ended the call, so rude. Later I learnt they were after some appliance warranty stuff. We’ve had several calls this week from different numbers about renewing warranties for our washing machine and such, must be the same lot.

I’ve had loads of calls lately about a washing machine warranty. Today I asked which washing machine he meant as I own 2, and he said it was for a Hotpoint. Problem is, I don’t have a Hotpoint washing machine at all. Watch out for this!

Got a call from an Asian bloke claiming he was calling from the warranty team, saying my washing machine’s warranty had ended - this was for a machine only 6 weeks old! I asked him to send me the details since I always keep all info saved on my laptop. He then said it would take a while to get that info and when I asked how he even knew the warranty was expired, he said he’d ring me back. At that point, I just told him to jog on.

I shared this tip for anyone getting calls about washing machine scams: just say your washer is 8 or 9 years old and they’ll usually stop bothering you. They don’t provide cover for old machines since the risk of claims is high. Even if they were legit insurers, check out the recent reports - they’re targeting senior citizens and other vulnerable folks because they’re easy to push around. Honestly, would you want to get involved with people like that?

Someone rang me from this number saying they were calling on behalf of Whirlpool, claiming my fridge freezer warranty was nearly up. Thing is, I don’t even own a Whirlpool freezer, and the one I’ve got is much older than any warranty period. I’d definitely say this looks like a scam call and could be risky if you fall for their story.

So I got a call saying my washing machine's service plan had run out. Turns out it expired like five years back! I just hung up straight away. Not really harmful, but I guess they were trying to trick me into signing up for another costly and pointless contract. It was super irritating, especially since I’m on the phone preference list that’s meant to stop these pesky calls.

Got a call claiming my washing machine’s warranty was up, which wasn’t right since I just extended it not long ago. If I hadn’t been on the ball, I might’ve ended up handing over my personal info to some scammer. Told them straight I wasn’t falling for it and asked to have my number taken off their list.

Just got a call from 01273091000 claiming my warranty on 3 appliances was about to run out. I played along for a bit and she was really sweet about giving me a 35% discount if I renewed. She said it would be £300 for 3 years cover. Then she asked what kind of appliances I had, so I told her straight up it was a SCAM. Really frustrating and feels pretty dodgy. She seemed shocked and said the number’s only been active for 3 weeks. Well, that says it all really!

Got a call from 01273 091000 about some warranty for my washing machine. I told them mine still has like 5 years left and I’m not interested in adding anything else when it finishes. The bloke’s English was pretty awful and he just hung up after that. Pretty clear it was a scam from the start anyway.

01273 091000 rang me, going on about some washing machine warranty. I told them my machine's got a 5 year warranty that’s still valid and said I wasn’t interested in paying for extra cover when that runs out. Then they just cut me off.
