Got a call from a number in Barnstaple, it was a recorded message with an American accent, saying some criminal case has been opened against me. Proper scam, I reckon.

Does anyone actually have a direct line that connects to these rude a***holes? Because I’m fed up with being passed around just to deal with their nonsense.

Sounds like a call centre from the background noise. They didn't say a word before suddenly hanging up.

Received a dodgy phone contract request demanding an advance payment, promising it would be reimbursed upon delivery of the device.

I received a dodgy call claiming that my national insurance number was about to be revoked. Total scam!

I got a call from a blocked number but when I answered, no one was there. So, I’ve ended up blocking that number now.

I recently received a text that claimed it was a free call notification from O2. It instructed me to dial 901 and then press * followed by option 5 twice if I wished to cancel it. What a palaver!

I received a call supposedly from a health-related firm. When I requested their registration number, they abruptly cut the line. I tried returning the call only to be met with a distinctly American dial tone followed by a message in a US accent indicating the number wasn't in service. Quite suspicious, wouldn’t you agree?

I received a couple of rings before the call was cut off. When I attempted to ring back, I was greeted with a recorded message thanking me for getting in touch with Excom Telecom.

I've just had yet another unsolicited call regarding investment opportunities. The chap on the other end had a strong foreign inflection and was relentless-no matter how many times I attempted to decline. Eventually, I just hung up. It all feels very dodgy, doesn't it?

It's quite similar to another number, 01271522006, which is already flagged as dubious and known for trying to swindle folks out of their personal information for fraudulent purposes. They often masquerade as representatives from big names like Curry's, Carphone Warehouse, or O2, trying to pitch you enticing offers for upgrades or complimentary call deals. Then, they’ll rudely ask for sensitive information such as your personal and bank details. Don’t be foolish and fall prey to these tricks! Always refrain from sharing any information with callers-regardless of whether you were awaiting that call. It’s wise to verify who you’re dealing with; a simple call back to a number you trust can save you a lot of hassle. I've taken the precaution of blocking this number.

I received a phone call, and I’m not quite sure what it was about. In the end, I was greeted by a robot voice.

I received a rather dubious call today from someone claiming to be from O2, stating that I had been chosen for a 50% loyalty discount. They even sent me two texts that cleverly blended in with my previous legitimate O2 communications-one was a security warning and the other contained a one-time code. To my astonishment, they had an alarming amount of personal information right in front of them, including my address, postcode, email, and tariff details. They asked me to confirm my answer to my security question, which I hesitated to provide. Then they suggested a second option to verify my identity-my O2 account's last 4 digits-but I couldn’t recall them. The third option was the last 4 digits of my card, so I reluctantly disclosed those from an old account. Shortly after our conversation, I received a notification saying I had updated my O2 password, followed by another message indicating that I had added a Wi-Fi service to my account. They assured me as well that my tariff would now be reduced by half. Just as they were wrapping up the explanation, the call dropped, but they soon called back from a different number, continuing where we left off. They ended by informing me that I was also eligible for a free gift hamper featuring a Galaxy gaming tablet, simply asking what colour I preferred before expressing their gratitude for my time. Quite the odd encounter, to say the least!
