I wonder who’s passing on or selling our info to these scammers. The businesses that let this happen really should take a good hard look at what they’re doing.

I received a rather dubious call concerning an alleged fault reported by my computer, supposedly from the Cyber Department-though sometimes it’s branded as the Technical department. When I queried which company was involved, the answer was Microsoft. Well, I’ve had my fair share of dealings with them, and I know for a fact that personal error reports aren’t sent off to Microsoft, even with the so-called consent to share all error details. Running an IT firm myself, I couldn’t help but question whether the caller had any shred of knowledge about computers. Predictably, she hung up on me! It seems these scammers must occasionally find success, but I can’t fathom why they target someone who’s clearly in the know. I really wish there was a foolproof method to track them down and put a stop to this nonsense once and for all.

My wife picked up a call from this number just now. It's the same old scam spiel claiming that £500 has been charged to her Visa card. They ask you to press 1 for verification-yeah, right! Stay sharp and watch out for this scam!

I've received two calls from this number over the past week. Both times, it was an automated message claiming to be grateful for the £599 charge applied to my credit card. It prompted me to press 1 if I didn’t recognise the transaction. Naturally, I didn’t engage and simply ended the call. Upon contacting my bank, they confirmed it was a fraudulent attempt.

I just said I’d sort it out with my bank’s fraud department and they hung up straight away.

I received a call from a foreign woman claiming there was an issue with my computer. I quickly informed her that I was well aware of such scams and told her to pipe down. I hung up, yet she had the nerve to ring me again shortly after, insisting I hadn't allowed her to finish her spiel. Honestly, my response at that point would be a bit unrepeatable! It baffles me how some folks must be falling for this nonsense, otherwise, they wouldn’t keep ringing people. Just to clarify, my computer is perfectly fine.

About 10 minutes ago, I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent claiming to be from Amazon's security team. She said some bloke (gave his full name) had used my info to buy a smartphone. She had no way of knowing my details because I didn’t give her any. I told her thanks but that I’d be contacting the Police with the info she’d shared. The number she called from (01269849929) is listed by BT as a landline. Why doesn't BT’s fraud department (if that exists) look into all the reports about this number?

Got a recorded call saying a 600 GBP charge on my MasterCard or Visa from abroad. After reading the reviews here, this number looks seriously dodgy. The scam they tried on me was the same amount as others mentioned - why on earth would it be the exact same sum for lots of people? Plus, people mention different kinds of calls coming from this number. Why would totally unrelated 'businesses' use the same phone number? It's a massive SCAM, watch out!!!!!!!

01269849929 - At first, the call was dead silent. When I checked 1471, it showed 007864. Looking it up here, that number is linked to Domestic and General. I asked my provider to block it on 1572, and then the number showed up as 01269849929 from Ammanford. It's blocked now. I also saw on this site that the number has been reported as trying to chat about the internet. Seems like this is how they’re sneaking past personal call blockers.

I didn’t catch this call yesterday. Glad I saw the comments though. Now I know to block this number. Big thanks to everyone who took the time to share their stories.

The number showed up as international so I let it ring out. Looks like other folks on Who Called Me say it was a scam.

They called pretty early this morning, which is a bit odd. Didn’t leave a voicemail tho. After reading the reviews here, I’m probs going to put them on block!

Got an automated call saying my number was gonna be cut off soon - I ended the call before it finished - definitely a scam.

Purely british! A woman called me saying my phone would be cut off because of some issue. She said if I pressed 1, I’d get more details. Not daft enough to fall for that, so I just blocked the number. These scammers really are such a waste of time and effort.

There’s really no need to yell.

They said it was about a court case against me and that I should call them back.

The call ended just as I picked up. It showed up as an international number but apparently comes from Ammanford, close to Swansea.

Got called early in the morning, sounded like a Microsoft scam. Pretty much the same story tho.

Got a call from someone saying he was "Ronnie Johnson" with a strong Indian accent, saying he’s from Microsoft and there’s an issue with my PC. Said he was ringing from Thames Valley Park in Reading, using the number 0344 3002400. Obviously, a scammer pretending to be legit. Honestly, are folks still falling for these obvious scams? Makes you wonder.

I've had yet another pesky call claiming to be from Microsoft, warning me that my computer would be locked if I didn’t comply with their demands. It’s becoming quite a nuisance, as I've received multiple calls over the past few days, all coming from Ammanford. I've made sure to add every number to my 1572 block list, yet they still keep ringing from different numbers with the same old nonsense.

Got a call that woke me up for no reason. I’m disabled and stuck in bed feeling unwell. When I finally picked up, there were strange beeps and noises that made me really wary about where it was coming from.

Got a call from this number today, i answered and they just dropped the call straight away, so annoying these scam calls! Its been ringing me 5 times this morning alone! Even tho i got a call blocker, these guys still find a way to annoy me. Wish someone would sort these scammers out properly.

Got a call from someone claiming to be 'Microsoft' with all the usual nonsense. He said their office was in Reading and I could take my PC there for repairs, but only if I "know how to swim" because they're supposedly surrounded by water and the staff use "special boats" to get in. I told him no thanks, and he started threatening to contact the police, accusing me of "aiding hackers." Then he said I worship Mohammed and labelled me a terrorist, saying he'd shut down my internet right away. Still waiting for that to happen...

I received a call from a bloke who went by Jacob, claiming to be from Microsoft. He even had the cheek to use my name. Definitely a scam artist!

They rang me up purporting to be from Microsoft, but I swiftly set them straight and hung up once more. It's becoming rather tiresome, to say the least!

Got a call this mornin at 7:45 from a Michael sayin he was from Microsoft, maybe from some place called Calcutta. When I said I didnt own a PC and that computers are just evil, he got rude, told me to shut up and listen. Then he swore at me to f#ck off. I told him he might wanna do that to himself and ended the call. Blocked the number straight away.

Some bloke claimed to be from Microsoft. He knew bits of my name and where I live. I kept talking to him for a bit, then some other man jumped on the call yelling insults and the call got cut. Definitely seemed fake, not a real Microsoft person!

Twice this week I got calls from the BT Microsoft scam about 7.45 in the morning. One of the numbers was O1431824862. I really wish BT did more to warn people about these fraudsters and actually tried to stop them!

Like others have said, got a call from someone with an Asian accent claiming to be from Microsoft. I've blocked the number now, but heads up - when I dialled 1471, it gave me a completely different number: 01431824705. Checking my BT account to block it showed me that second number just as well. These scammers are proper sneaky, probably using someone else's number to hide behind.

showed as from abroad so i just didnt pick up, most of them are dodgy or scams like people have said here.

My phone showed the call as coming from overseas. A guy with an Asian accent claimed he was calling from Microsoft, saying there was an issue with my computer. I quickly told him I didn’t trust it and ended the call. When I tried to block the number using 1572, it said the number was from Ammanford in Wales! That can’t be right. How do they pull off stuff like this? It’s really risky for anyone who’s not alert.

Got a dodgy recorded call pretending to be from BT's Tech team saying my internet would be cut off today if I didn't do something. They rang me again from another number: 001403902099 - obviously a scam.

Got two calls from this number. First one was some nonsense about a Microsoft computer issue, and the next time they rang about a health survey. I reckon the health one was just a sneaky way to get personal info.

Got a call from some bloke with an Asian accent claiming he was from BT’s tech support. He said someone in Amsterdam had hacked into my IP and was using my info without permission. I told him straight up that it was obvious a scam and ended the call. I then used BT Call Protect to block the number. This week, they’ve tried twice from different phone numbers, all now blacklisted. Each time they warned my internet would be cut off within 24 hours. So far, everything’s still working fine and I’m pretty sure it’ll stay that way.
