Got the same sort of text twice in a couple of days saying "£600s has just been taken from my account", but the first one was from a three digit number starting 044 and the second from the number mentioned here. When I checked online it turns out its a UK landline number thats been active since 2016.

I just got a recorded message saying my bank card was used fraudulently abroad and money had been taken off my account. They told me to press 1 to stop the transactions. Got home and found an ansa phone message saying £600 had been withdrawn from my bank just 15 minutes ago in some foreign place and to press 1 to talk to someone. The caller ID showed 01499859731 and it seems they rang two times earlier today. Reported it to 1572, they gave me this number which I’ve now blocked.

I wasn’t bothered and didn’t do anything, but I can see how this kind of scam could scare folks, especially when my number is on the telephone preference service. Proper dodgy tactics!

I got a call from someone claiming to be from my internet company saying there was an issue with my connection or something like that. They wanted me to install some software, but I knew it was dodgy so I just hung up. Don’t ever download anything they tell you to, it’s definitely some kind of malware. They’re usually after your bank or credit card info, so watch out!

Heads up - got a call from this number on my landline today around 4.43pm. When asked who was calling, they said they were from an energy comparison place trying to offer cheaper rates. I asked a few times which company they represented, but couldn’t quite catch it because of the strong female African accent. The caller ID showed a number, but as it wasn't familiar I didn't pick up. It stopped ringing pretty quickly. When I checked the call history on my phone, it just said "International" without any specific number. However, when I accessed my online account, it displayed the full number so I've blocked it now. Because it appeared as "International," I'm thinking it was probably spam or maybe even a scam.

Received a call from 01269-849927, some automated voice pretending to be VISA, warning me about suspicious charges on my card. It asked me to press 1 to talk to someone. That number doesn’t look like a proper VISA number with that area code, and even if it was real, surely my bank would contact me directly, not VISA. Got a robo call supposedly from my 'internet supplier' warning that my connection would be disconnected in a day or two because of unauthorised access to my router from multiple countries. They said I had to get a fresh IP and new router and to 'press 1' to sort it out. I quickly ended the call - not without some hassle - then blocked the number, even though the caller ID showed as unknown.

Got a call from 01269849927 saying they were with some “My call blocking service” and tried to sell me an upgrade so no one could bother me with cold calls ever again. They already knew my name, address and postcode, and even claimed I pay my phone bill by direct debit. Then, they asked for my full card number linked to the direct debit to “confirm” it was really me. They were pretty pushy, saying they already had the number but just needed to check it.
