Somebody said they were from Virgin Media and wanted the first couple of letters of my password, which I just made up, then asked for my dob, I made that up too. Then they said there was a problem accessing my account. Well, that’s because they’re a scammer! Virgin Media wouldn’t call me about broadband issues, I’d be the one ringing them 😂

Got a call from a woman with a quite strong South Asian accent claiming there were issues with my internet. She said multiple people were supposedly using my router without permission and asked me how many devices I had connected, and whether I’d given out my password to anyone. I was pretty wary straight away but decided to humour her for a bit to see where it went. She then told me my internet would be shut off for a few days so they could investigate who was hacking into my router, but I could keep using it if I downloaded some software on my laptop or phone. That’s when I started laughing and she just hung up after that. I looked up the number online afterwards and found loads of reports about this exact scam, where they try to trick you into downloading dodgy software. Glad I just messed around with her call instead of falling for it. I’d recommend others do the same with these types of scam calls and make it a bit of a game!

Apparently, this firm provides phone services to firms pretending to be Carphone Warehouse, a name that was discontinued after Dixons took over. So Carphone Warehouse doesn’t exist anymore. The dodgy part? This lot, which seems to be running from India, demands a £40 upfront setup fee - something no other legitimate provider asks for. So if you fancy sending £40 off to India hoping to get a phone, then these are the chaps you’re looking for. Just a heads up - be cautious!

Someone rang saying they were from Carphone Warehouse offering a “free” iPhone 13 Pro Max with unlimited calls and data for £40 a month. Sounded too good to be true right? Then they asked for my National Insurance number for a credit check - since when is that needed? Then it got worse, they wanted all my bank details plus my online banking passwords! Honestly, do they think people are complete mugs? Unbelievable.
