Got a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming to be from O2, saying I was eligible for a discount and free AirPods for being a loyal customer. Got a robotic call claiming to be from HMRC? I pressed 1 to chat with an “officer” and ended up speaking to some bloke named “Mike Green” from an Indian call centre! I didnt pick up this time since ive got loads of calls off numbers like this and theyre always spam anyway.

I received a call from a chap with a thick accent claiming to be from Virgin Mobile, offering me a discount and a new contract. He sounded quite sharp and was well-versed in the entire ID verification spiel for Virgin Mobile and Virgin Media. They requested that I share my mobile account details along with my card information for payment purposes, which at first glance seemed entirely above board. However, it turned out to be a cunning scam. Their intent was to siphon off my money through dodgy transactions. I acted swiftly, contacting the fraud helpline and alerting my bank. For goodness’ sake, avoid picking up that number!

Some bloke claiming to be from Virgin Media called, saying I could get a 30% discount for being loyal. When I told him I was actually with Sky, he just ended the call straight away.

My phone flagged it as a spam call, said it was from Carphone Warehouse. The call centre quality was awful. There was loads of background noise, the person had such a thick accent it was hard to catch what they were saying. He just went on forever about some mobile deal, even after I told him I thought it was a scam. Finished the call, then blocked and reported it.

A woman called with a really hard-to-follow foreign accent. When I tried asking who she wanted to talk to, she couldn’t give me a name and just ended the call. Pretty clear it was a dodgy scam.

I saw a missed call from 01260444019, but they only rang twice so I didn’t answer. I usually look up unknown numbers on this great site, Who Called Me UK, and today I checked this one. Turns out, it’s one of those annoying spam or harassing calls. So yeah, I’ve gone ahead and blocked it now.
