I received a rather alarming call from these individuals who not only knew my name but also my address. They claimed to have details about my credit card that was about to expire. Their pitch was all about enticing me to upgrade my Telephone Preference Service from blocking just local numbers to including international ones. When I requested the caller's number, they promptly shuffled me off to a so-called manager, who merely parroted the same dubious assertions until I made it clear that I wasn’t interested in coughing up any cash. Usually, I’d avoid such calls like the plague, but given their persistent attempts (their number is registered on my call log), I thought I’d give it a whirl in hopes it might curb the annoyance of these incessant interruptions.

Watch out for firms pretending to be TPS or even BT, trying to charge you to sign up or renew your TPS registration. Loads of companies try to sell services that supposedly block spam calls, but the TPS isn’t connected to any of them. Some of these businesses might even be dodgy and just want to scam you out of a fee.
