14/09/19 got a silent call in the afternoon, then on 15/09/17 got 4 rings round 9am, same on 16/09/17 too. Proper annoying! Been getting calls from what they claim are TalkTalk, Microsoft, BT, and now Windows! I humoured them once, let them chat, but when I called it a scam, the bloke swore and sounded well annoyed.

The best move is to keep them talking for a bit, then suddenly say something like "all the kids died, am I entitled to any kind of payout?" It always leaves them totally quiet for ages afterwards.

It was one of those accident insurance scams, I told the lady she’d dialled a company mobile and asked where she found my number. She just cut me off right away, not even a goodbye. So rude! If you’re with Vodafone and want to report spammers, text "CALL" to 7726 and then follow their instructions to send the number.

Got a call on my phone from someone claiming to check if I’d had a car accident in the past couple of years. When I asked who they thought they were speaking to, the first person quickly handed me over to a ‘supervisor’. I told the supervisor I was just trying to find out who they were trying to reach. They gave me the usual line about being on some database, but I asked again, “Who exactly are you trying to contact?” and the supervisor just hung up without saying a word. Got a call from someone who wouldn’t tell me which company they were with. Claimed they had my number from some "Department of RTAs" or something like that (never heard of it) and wanted me to verify details about an accident supposedly in the last three years. As soon as I said it was suspicious not to say who they really worked for and that pretending to be a gov department isn’t really trustworthy, they just hung up. Proper rude and pushy cold callers!

This site has its merits, though there's a fair bit of nonsense related to car mishaps. When I tried to find out the source of their info, the person on the line mentioned it was from accident statistics. I found that hard to believe and the call ended rather abruptly. Furthermore, when you attempt to call the number back, it claims the number's incorrect, hinting that phone companies might be turning a blind eye to this dodgy scheme.

I had a call from a number in Chelsmford, but since I don’t know anyone there, I just let it ring. Later, I found this website and managed to block the number. What a relief!

Got a call saying I'd been in an accident which wasn't my fault. Is that true? I just hung up.

It was a woman who said I’d been in a car crash but had zero info. When I told her I hadn’t, she tried asking if I’d had any other accidents, work or personal. I told her she was just fishing for business and she cut me off quickly. Proper rude and pushy scammer. Blocked her straight away.
