They claimed to be from some Debt Management office, trying to pass off as a UK GOV agency. I told them straight up they were scammers, which made the guy really annoyed and he started calling me an "idiot" and said I was "talking rubbish" (his exact words). I told him it was really rude to ring me and say those things. He then said he was going to hang up, which I think was the best bit of this awful call. Don’t ever share any info, especially bank details, with them. No genuine agency would ever insult you like that.

At first, I wasn’t really paying attention to who was ringing, but once they brought up that I'd supposedly been in an accident, I asked how they knew that. The caller started trying to get more info about the accident, but I just cut in and asked where they got my info from. She said something about an RTA - some sort of road traffic accident list. I told her, quite bluntly, that their database was wrong and I’d never had any accident - she ended the call straight away.

I got a call from The Proficient Helpline, based in Birmingham B1 1HN. They claimed I’d been in a car accident and could claim compensation. When I asked how they knew about it, they passed me to a manager. The manager also asked if I’d had an accident, which I questioned how he knew. Then I asked the company’s name again, and he said it was The Proficient Helpline in Birmingham B1 1HN. I told him I’m on the Telephone Preference Service list, and he just hung up. Definitely block these calls - they’re nothing but spam and unsolicited.
