Got a call just now about renewing my washer's service plan but the person had no clue which machine I owned. They rattled off my address but used the wrong first name which immediately made me suspicious. When I mentioned I'd already got a 5-year warranty through the original manufacturer and asked how they got my details, they hung up on me. This number kept phoning me loads of times about some washing machine protection plan that was apparently about to run out. The people on the other end were really impolite and refused to believe when I said I never signed up for anything! This company goes by the name DOMESTIC APPLIANCE CARE. They rang me saying my Hotpoint washing machine insurance had expired. I do have that insurance but the firm normally sends me letters about any updates and it’s something I pay for every year without fail. I reckon they got my details from a cold call I’d done, where I told the bloke I wouldn’t answer questions like what machine I own. I probably mentioned I got a Hotpoint and that it’s insured.
