It was only after checking different forums that I came to the realization that this was actually a scam. I will be reaching out to my phone provider, TalkTalk, regarding this matter. I had no prior knowledge that a company could charge me for receiving text messages. Furthermore, I had even blocked these calls on my phone when I initially received them, but it appears that I was still charged despite taking that action. Another person on the forum described this as theft, and I fully intend to pursue the matter further.

If you get a spam message saying you're signed up for a £3 weekly fee, just don’t respond. The best thing to do is report it to your mobile provider and ask if they can block those messages from coming through. After that, either delete it straight away or add the number to your block list. Ignoring it is the safest bet!
