I got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming to be from Microsoft tech support. He said my computer was being hacked and that he’d have to turn it off. When I questioned him, he began swearing and accused me of lying. This wasn’t the first time they’d tried to pull this scam on me. I told him I’d saved his number and would be reporting it to the cops, which seemed to annoy him quite a bit.

Beware of these refund scams! I’ve gotten calls from loads of different numbers from people claiming they’re giving back money for home appliance warranties. This bloke sounded like he had a heavy foreign accent and wanted to ‘confirm’ my address and bank details. You can hear a hectic call centre in the back but it all feels dodgy, like it’s all a scam. If you’re ever unsure, just end the call and double check with your bank or the shop if you've bought anything lately. Don’t get caught out!

I got a call from 01212703725, a lady with an Asian accent claiming I was owed £119.00 back for an overcharge on a washing machine warranty. She asked for my bank stuff like the sort code - though with her accent it kinda sounded like she said ‘short code’. She already knew my name and address, so I told her to just send a cheque instead. She said the cheque department was closed now. Feels like a total scam to me. I hung up, but they called right back straight away. Didn’t pick up the second time.

Got a call from 01212703725, a woman with a strong foreign accent. She claimed I was owed a refund for my washing machine. I told her to just send a cheque, but she said her company never refunds that way and kept saying she didn’t need my bank info. That’s when I figured it was a scam and ended the call. When I tried ringing back, it said the number wasn’t available, asking me to try again later - yeah, like that’s ever gonna happen! I decided it’s best not to mess with that number any further.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian or Asian accent who said her name was Sonia Brown, claiming I was owed a refund for some home appliance. She already knew my name and postcode, which made me suspicious since I have no idea about any refund. When I asked to get anything in writing through the post instead, she said they weren’t allowed to do that. I told her it sounded like a scam because if they really wanted to pay me, they'd need more info. She was really pushy and irritating, so after a while I just ended the call.

Got a call from an Indian man claiming to be from some Home Care company, saying I was due a refund for a home appliance. When I asked what exactly it was, he said a cooker. Thing is, I haven't bought a cooker in ages. As soon as I told him that, he just went "Oh?" and then cut the call. It was pretty obvious it was a scam.

Some bloke rang me up saying there’d been a glitch with my washing machine insurance and that I’d been billed twice. He asked for my info, promising a refund. I told him to just post me a cheque, but he said that wasn’t possible. Then he claimed he only needed my account number and sort code, not full bank details, to sort the refund. I mean, isn’t that basically the same thing? When I called him out for sounding like a scammer, he just ended the call.

He had a weird foreign accent, so I asked what part of the world he was ringing from. He said City of Westminster but his story didn't add up at all. Then he kept messing up my surname, which is pretty common where I'm from. When he asked again if I was “that name”, I told him no, and he quickly said sorry for the mix-up. After seeing all the other comments here, if anyone else calls, I reckon I'll have a bit of fun with them. Beats doing any more sanding on my door frames! 😂

I was hearing some noise in the background when suddenly a strange voice came on claiming to be Kevin. He was trying to convince me about some rebate deal worth over a hundred quid. I told him to just remove me from whatever list he had me on and mentioned I'd look up his number to see if it was dodgy. Seems like a scam to me, no doubt about it.

There was this typical noisy call centre in the background when I got a call from a bloke asking for someone else in my house by name, mentioned something about a refund for washing machine insurance they said was overpaid. They even knew our address. When I told him the person wasn't around, I asked if they could send a cheque instead. He said no, then quickly offered to transfer the money directly and asked for bank details. Feeling weird about it, I asked to talk to his manager and requested a contact number to ring back on since he was promising me money that wasn’t mine and I’m not about to get involved in any dodgy business. He refused, said he'd ring me later, then just hung up. Pretty obvious it was a scam from the start, but honestly, I don’t mind dragging it out just to waste their time!

Got a call from this number a moment ago. They wanted to speak to my husband, so I asked who it was. They claimed there was some sort of overpayment on our washing machine. Immediately felt suspicious because I've had that machine for about 9 years, so no chance of that! I could hear that noisy call centre in the background along with an Asian accent. This is the nth time this week I’ve had to politely tell them no thanks and hang up! Definitely a scammer, most likely from India. It’s awful knowing they make so many calls daily and snag a few vulnerable old folks, taking their money. I really don’t get why the authorities can’t get a grip and put a stop to it.

Caution is advised! I encountered a woman with an Indian accent who seemed to be following a script rather closely. Complete rip off alert. Got a call again about some 119 quid refund on washing machine cover. I pretended to be interested and got put through to some “manager” who then started asking for my bank details to send the money. Guy was really pushing hard saying it was legit. I got a call from a really nice Asian guy named Joe who said he was ringing from Westminster, London about getting a refund for a washing machine. He wanted to check if I still lived at my old place, and when I said no, he asked for the new address. I gave him this random address, something like 123456789 #### off street, and right after that he claimed the call was breaking up and he couldn’t hear me properly. I got a call from someone named 'Peter' claiming to be calling from 'Central London', though I reckon he forgot his number was spoofed from Birmingham. He said I was owed £119 back on my washing machine warranty and asked for my bank details to sort the refund. He actually had my right name and address linked to my phone number. I played along for a while, pretending to struggle with my laptop to get the account info. Eventually, he cottoned on that I was just messing him about, and then he started getting quite sharp with me. :)

The phone rang and my husband picked up. The caller claimed that a refund cheque was on its way from a home appliances company for our washing machine. We never ordered anything or dealt with them though. Watch out, this sounds like a total scam to me.

Got a missed call from this number. I've had loads of dodgy calls like this before, so I recognised it straight away and knocked it on the head by blocking them. Cheers to everyone who flagged this number up - makes it easier to just block it without a second thought.

No response at all when I picked up.

A guy called, said his name was Phillip and claimed I was owed a refund from some care services. When I asked him if the refund was linked to a direct debit or a standing order, and which bank it came from, he got a bit dodgy. Then he started saying I didn't have to pay anything to him. I didn't trust it for a second, told him to stop calling me, and just hung up.

A woman called herself Christine, not sure about her last name, maybe Hern or something like that. The whole thing smelled like a scam - she claimed I was owed £199 for overpaying on washing machine insurance. I asked if they could send a cheque, but she insisted the money had to go straight into a bank account (too dodgy for my liking!). Funny enough, just a couple of days before, I had a call warning me that my washing machine insurance was ending soon, and I told them flat out I wasn’t renewing. Suspicious timing if you ask me!

Somebody phoned saying they were sorting out a refund for me because of an overcharge on my washing machine warranty. I told them straight away it sounded like a scam and then they went and called me a ####. Ridiculous!

Got a ring earlier today from someone saying they needed my bank info to give me a refund on a washing machine warranty overpayment. I asked which machine exactly because I don’t even have a laundry machine at home, just so he mentioned a Hotpoint. I told him I’d never had one, but he kept insisting he knew what he was talking about, was pretty rude about it as well. Just before he hung up, I asked if he’d speak to his own mum like that. Then the line went dead. I figured hanging on a bit might stop someone else getting caught out by these awful scammers.

Got a call from some automated woman talking about a refund for a washing machine. They even had my address, so I asked them to send a cheque instead of doing anything online. But they insisted on getting my bank details. I told them straight up it sounded like a scam, and then they just suddenly cut the call.

Got a call from a bloke who sounded Asian, asking if I was Miss Wxxxxxe? I said, "No, you’ve got the wrong person!" Could hear a lot of noise in the background like a busy call centre or something. I tried to ask "Who’s this?" but he just didn’t answer. Then the line just cut off. This number has been buzzing me every day for the past week or so.

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent who gave his name as Stephen Smith, which immediately felt off. I kept pretending to go along with what he was saying but started getting suspicious. Then he asked if he might have dialled the wrong number, and hung up right after. Definitely a scammer in my book...

Some bloke called himself Mujibar and his English was pretty poor, so I was like, how did you even pass the job interview? He told me they wanted him to create a sentence using the words pink, green and yellow. When I asked what sentence he came up with, he said something like, "The phone went green, green and I pink it up and said yellow Mujibar speaking." And believe it or not, he actually got the job!

I've gotten calls from them two times just this week. The most recent one was about giving me a refund of £119 for an overpayment on a washing machine warranty. Problem is, my washing machine is like 25 years old! They've been ringing me non-stop for months now. Honestly, it feels like a complete SCAM.

Felt like a scam, they hung up but left the call on, dunno if it matters but gave it a go anyway. Now I can hear music playing on the other end…

At around 16:19 today I got a call from the number 0121 270 3725. There was a bit of hesitation on their end when I picked up, they just kept repeating “Hello, hello, hello” without really introducing themselves. Then they wanted to talk to a Mr John. I informed them there’s no John at this address, and after that, they quickly said “Wrong number” and hung up.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming they were refunding me for being overcharged on a home appliance. They even knew my name and where I live, which made it sound real. I had a feeling if I stayed on the line, they'd try to get my bank details, so I just ended the call. Luckily, they never rang me again.

I picked up and just said hello. The bloke sounded weird, like he was clenching his jaw or something, maybe had an Asian accent? He asked if I was someone named xxx, I said nope, you’ve got the wrong number mate. Then he just cut the call.

Got a call from some bloke with an Indian accent calling himself James Valentine, saying I'd got a refund coming for a washing machine guarantee. He asked which account I wanted the money paid into, but I told him to just post me a cheque. Then he said he needed a reference number from my cheque book, which I thought was odd. I asked why on earth he’d need that if he was sending me a cheque. After a short silence, I told him he was talking nonsense and to jog on.

Some bloke named Marshall rang me up but ended the call right away when he couldn’t make sense of what I was saying - can’t say I’m surprised, he must be a bit dim. Honestly, most of these scam centre folks seem daft, they’re rubbish at even pulling off their own scams.

Got a call about a refund of £119 and they asked straight away for my bank details to send the money. I thought I’d be a bit sneaky and asked if they could send a cheque instead. They wouldn’t agree to that at all. Pretty sure it was a refund scam.
