I received a call from an Asian gentleman who claimed to represent Microsoft’s technical support team, insisting that my computer was facing a cyber threat and that he would need to switch it off. When I pressed him for more details, he resorted to foul language and accused me of being dishonest. This marks the second instance of this rather dubious attempt to con me. I mentioned that I’d be reporting his number to the authorities, and that clearly ruffled his feathers considerably.

Beware of these refund scams! I’ve gotten calls from loads of different numbers from people claiming they’re giving back money for home appliance warranties. This bloke sounded like he had a heavy foreign accent and wanted to ‘confirm’ my address and bank details. You can hear a hectic call centre in the back but it all feels dodgy, like it’s all a scam. If you’re ever unsure, just end the call and double check with your bank or the shop if you've bought anything lately. Don’t get caught out!

I got a call from 01212703725, a lady with an Asian accent claiming I was owed £119.00 back for an overcharge on a washing machine warranty. She asked for my bank stuff like the sort code - though with her accent it kinda sounded like she said ‘short code’. She already knew my name and address, so I told her to just send a cheque instead. She said the cheque department was closed now. Feels like a total scam to me. I hung up, but they called right back straight away. Didn’t pick up the second time.

Got a call from 01212703725, a woman with a strong foreign accent. She claimed I was owed a refund for my washing machine. I told her to just send a cheque, but she said her company never refunds that way and kept saying she didn’t need my bank info. That’s when I figured it was a scam and ended the call. When I tried ringing back, it said the number wasn’t available, asking me to try again later - yeah, like that’s ever gonna happen! I decided it’s best not to mess with that number any further.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian or Asian accent who said her name was Sonia Brown, claiming I was owed a refund for some home appliance. She already knew my name and postcode, which made me suspicious since I have no idea about any refund. When I asked to get anything in writing through the post instead, she said they weren’t allowed to do that. I told her it sounded like a scam because if they really wanted to pay me, they'd need more info. She was really pushy and irritating, so after a while I just ended the call.

Got a call from an Indian man claiming to be from some Home Care company, saying I was due a refund for a home appliance. When I asked what exactly it was, he said a cooker. Thing is, I haven't bought a cooker in ages. As soon as I told him that, he just went "Oh?" and then cut the call. It was pretty obvious it was a scam.

Received a call purporting to be from my washing machine insurance, claiming there was a glitch and I had been debited twice. The caller insisted on needing my information to process a refund and suggested he could send me the money back. I asked him to send a cheque, to which he responded that wasn’t an option. He then requested just my account number and sort code, emphasizing he didn’t want my bank details. I couldn't help but wonder, what exactly did he think those numbers amounted to? After I called him out as a fraudster, he abruptly ended the call. Quite the dodgy character!

I was a bit taken aback when I received a call from someone with an obvious foreign accent, especially since he completely butchered my quite ordinary surname. When I asked him where he was ringing from, he claimed it was the City of Westminster - which I suspected was far from the truth. He then went on about his ‘home area’, and when he mispronounced my name again, I confirmed that he had the wrong person. He ended up apologising for the mix-up. After perusing some of the other comments here, I think next time I get such a call, I might just have a bit of fun with it. Anything’s got to be more entertaining than sanding down the architraves! 😂

I could hear chatter in the background, and then a voice that sounded foreign came through, introducing himself as Kevin. I received a rather suspicious call today, accompanied by that familiar din of a busy call centre. A chap on the other end was asking for someone in my home, mentioning their name, and yammering on about a refund for some washing machine insurance they'd apparently overpaid. He even had our address on record! When I informed him that the person he was after wasn’t in at that moment, I inquired if they could possibly send a cheque instead. He flatly stated they couldn’t do that and bizarrely proceeded to offer me the refund cash directly, requesting my bank details. I demanded to speak with a supervisor and asked for a contact number to call them back, as I wasn’t willing to entertain what felt like a scam involving someone else’s money. He simply refused, insisted he’d ring back later, and hung up. From the very beginning, it was clear this was dodgy business. However, I don't mind keeping these sorts of con artists on the line as long as possible - it’s quite entertaining to waste their precious time!

I received a rather dubious call earlier today from a chap with an Asian accent, surrounded by plenty of background din, as if he were in a bustling call centre. He claimed he was offering a refund for my homecare insurance on my washing machine. That instantly raised my suspicions, so I promptly ended the conversation. It’s quite unsettling that he seemed to be aware of my actual name already.

I recently had a phone call from this number. They were seeking my husband and, upon my inquiry into their identity, claimed there had been an overpayment concerning our washing machine. Alarm bells went off instantly, especially since I've had that machine for nearly a decade! I won't disclose my exact response, but let’s just say it caught my husband off guard, and he came rushing in from the kitchen looking utterly astonished! It was quite the entertaining moment!

I had a rather peculiar encounter with a lady who claimed I was entitled to a refund for a washing machine warranty. However, when I inquired about the specific brand, she began to rattle off a list of names without any direction. Then, when I requested a cheque to settle the matter, she said that wasn’t possible. Before I could even respond, she abruptly ended the call! Very strange indeed!

I caught a glimpse of that familiar din from a call centre in the background, followed by an Asian voice pitching away! Yet again this week, I responded as pleasantly as I could muster with a polite, 'no thank you, goodbye!' It's painfully clear this is just another scam operation, likely hailing from India. It's rather alarming to consider how many calls they churn out-there are bound to be a few vulnerable pensioners who are caught off guard and tricked into losing their hard-earned cash. What baffles me is why authorities can't seem to clamp down on this rampant issue??

Caution is advised! I encountered a woman with an Indian accent who seemed to be following a script rather closely. Got a call from someone with a strange accent asking for a quick 6-digit code and my cheque book’s ID number to sort out an “overcharge” on some appliance insurance. I got a call from a really nice Asian guy named Joe who said he was ringing from Westminster, London about getting a refund for a washing machine. He wanted to check if I still lived at my old place, and when I said no, he asked for the new address. Got a call from some woman mumbling about a refund for washing machine insurance. I tried to get her to say the brand, thought she said Hoover or something, but I've never even had one of those. Called it a scam and told her to stop wasting my time. On the bright side, she didn't drop any nasty words on me!

I got a call from someone named 'Peter' claiming to be calling from 'Central London', though I reckon he forgot his number was spoofed from Birmingham. He said I was owed £119 back on my washing machine warranty and asked for my bank details to sort the refund. He actually had my right name and address linked to my phone number. I played along for a while, pretending to struggle with my laptop to get the account info. Eventually, he cottoned on that I was just messing him about, and then he started getting quite sharp with me. :)

The phone rang and my husband picked up. The caller claimed that a refund cheque was on its way from a home appliances company for our washing machine. We never ordered anything or dealt with them though. Watch out, this sounds like a total scam to me.

Got a missed call from this number. I've had loads of dodgy calls like this before, so I recognised it straight away and knocked it on the head by blocking them. Cheers to everyone who flagged this number up - makes it easier to just block it without a second thought.

No response at all when I picked up.

A guy called, said his name was Phillip and claimed I was owed a refund from some care services. When I asked him if the refund was linked to a direct debit or a standing order, and which bank it came from, he got a bit dodgy. Then he started saying I didn't have to pay anything to him. I didn't trust it for a second, told him to stop calling me, and just hung up.

A woman called herself Christine, not sure about her last name, maybe Hern or something like that. The whole thing smelled like a scam - she claimed I was owed £199 for overpaying on washing machine insurance. I asked if they could send a cheque, but she insisted the money had to go straight into a bank account (too dodgy for my liking!). Funny enough, just a couple of days before, I had a call warning me that my washing machine insurance was ending soon, and I told them flat out I wasn’t renewing. Suspicious timing if you ask me!

Somebody phoned saying they were sorting out a refund for me because of an overcharge on my washing machine warranty. I told them straight away it sounded like a scam and then they went and called me a ####. Ridiculous!

Received a call earlier today from someone claiming they needed my banking information to process a refund for an overcharge on a washing machine warranty. When I inquired about which washing machine they meant, as I don’t even have one, he mentioned a Hotpoint model. I’ve never owned anything like that, yet he insisted he had the upper hand in the conversation and was rather impolite. Just before he hung up on me, I challenged him, asking if he would treat his mother in the same way. His response? A swift click, and he was gone. I can only hope that by keeping him on the line, I managed to spare someone else from these ghastly scammers.

I received a rather suspicious call from a robotic woman's voice claiming to offer a refund for my washing machine. To my surprise, they had my address on file! When I requested a cheque instead, they promptly asked for my banking details. I called it out as a scam, and wouldn’t you know it, they just disconnected the call. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

I've been receiving calls from a fellow who had quite an Asian accent, inquiring if I was Miss Wxxxxxe. I promptly stated, "Not at all!" In the background, I could hear the hustle and bustle of what seemed to be a telecommunications sales floor. Curious, I probed further, "May I ask who's on the other end?" But alas, no answer came... and just like that, the call was cut off. This number has been harassing me daily for the past week, it's becoming rather tiresome!

I received a call from someone with an Asian accent claiming to be called (Stephen Smith). That immediately raised my suspicions, so I decided to keep him on the line for a bit. Eventually, he questioned whether he had dialled the correct number before abruptly ending the conversation. Clearly, it was a dodgy attempt at a scam...

Some bloke called himself Mujibar and his English was pretty poor, so I was like, how did you even pass the job interview? He told me they wanted him to create a sentence using the words pink, green and yellow. When I asked what sentence he came up with, he said something like, "The phone went green, green and I pink it up and said yellow Mujibar speaking." And believe it or not, he actually got the job!

I've gotten calls from them two times just this week. The most recent one was about giving me a refund of £119 for an overpayment on a washing machine warranty. Problem is, my washing machine is like 25 years old! They've been ringing me non-stop for months now. Honestly, it feels like a complete SCAM.

Felt like a scam, they hung up but left the call on, dunno if it matters but gave it a go anyway. Now I can hear music playing on the other end…

At around 16:19 today I got a call from the number 0121 270 3725. There was a bit of hesitation on their end when I picked up, they just kept repeating “Hello, hello, hello” without really introducing themselves. Then they wanted to talk to a Mr John. I informed them there’s no John at this address, and after that, they quickly said “Wrong number” and hung up.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming they were refunding me for being overcharged on a home appliance. They even knew my name and where I live, which made it sound real. I had a feeling if I stayed on the line, they'd try to get my bank details, so I just ended the call. Luckily, they never rang me again.

I picked up and just said hello. The bloke sounded weird, like he was clenching his jaw or something, maybe had an Asian accent? He asked if I was someone named xxx, I said nope, you’ve got the wrong number mate. Then he just cut the call.

Got a call from some bloke with an Indian accent calling himself James Valentine, saying I'd got a refund coming for a washing machine guarantee. He asked which account I wanted the money paid into, but I told him to just post me a cheque. Then he said he needed a reference number from my cheque book, which I thought was odd. I asked why on earth he’d need that if he was sending me a cheque. After a short silence, I told him he was talking nonsense and to jog on.

Some bloke named Marshall rang me up but ended the call right away when he couldn’t make sense of what I was saying - can’t say I’m surprised, he must be a bit dim. Honestly, most of these scam centre folks seem daft, they’re rubbish at even pulling off their own scams.
