She insisted that according to their files, we do and even pay by direct debit. Told her their info is totally wrong and hung up. Got some long list of 30+ different numbers like this, all scams or dodgy. Absolute scum these people are.

Got a call from some guy named Alex claiming to be from Estate Protect. He was going on about how the government is making people sell their houses to cover care costs. At one point, he even mentioned something about the BBC news to sound legit. It went on for a bit until I told him I’d report the call, and that’s when he finally shut up. Ended up hanging up straight after. Total scam in my opinion.

Feels like a right merry-go-round with these scammers. Got a call from someone named Alex, or maybe John, about housing and care for the elderly. After he went on with his polite but dodgy spiel for a couple of minutes, I told him I really wanted to talk to John (or was it Alex?). He said John wasn’t available, which was a bit suspect, and just then he ended the call. Knowing these lot, this Alex/John will no doubt keep on scamming, especially with the government not doing much to stop them.

Beware, this person is a notorious crook. If they ring you, just say you’re reporting them to the Police and make sure you follow through. It's also a good idea to register your phone with the Telephone Preference Service. You might want to contact your local MP too, and complain about the Culture Secretary letting these dodgy characters get away with phone scams since the telecom companies sell whole bunches of numbers without even checking who they’re handing them to. They don’t do any proper ID verification or KYC stuff. It’s really frustrating how they keep getting away with it!
