He seemed taken aback by my response, and I promptly ended the conversation. I've now blocked his number to prevent any further interruptions.

Many have shared similar experiences: A rather dubious energy representative claimed to have registered me as the homeowner (how on earth did they manage that?). He proceeded to blurt out about a “complimentary survey” and the like. I began to challenge him with some inquiries and informed him (it was a chap) that his call was unsolicited and unwelcome. Unfortunately, that’s when he abruptly ended our conversation, proving that he had completely failed in his attempt to con me! What a sad individual in need of a legitimate occupation! Like others have mentioned before, this bloke from an energy company tried telling me I was the homeowner (how would he know that?). Then he went on about some “free survey” deal. I started questioning him and told him it was a pointless call to a private number. That was the end of it because he just hung up - guess he couldn’t trick me after all! What a disgrace, just a loser who should find a proper job. My advice? Report them to the TPS, Action Fraud UK, and websites like this. Stay safe out there!

Got this robotic call saying it was from the local home energy company, acting like I’m the homeowner. No actual person, just a machine talking. I reckon these scammers use the internet to ring people, so it’s probably free for them. Honestly, I wish BT would step in and stop these annoying calls, and even better if they got fined properly for contacting people like this. A bloke with a deep voice called, sounded quite clear with no accent. He claimed he was from some home energy company around here. Asked if i owned the house.
