Got a call from some guy going on about an "energy crisis caused by Boris," claiming that the loft insulation I had fitted a couple of years back was now against the rules and needed swapping out. What freaked me out was that he somehow knew my exact age, then tried to sweeten the deal with a discount because of it. Among all the sales calls I’ve had, this one was easily the rudest and most irritating bloke I’ve dealt with. He wouldn't even let me say no properly - I might have dropped a few swear words before I finally ended the call.

Got this call on my home phone but didn’t even get through cause of the answering machine. Looks like they’re trying to take advantage of all the mess with energy companies to catch people out. Noticed from another comment that the first few digits match up, then it switches to things like 97, 92 and so on. Seriously glad I’ve got an answering machine set up!

Someone rang me claiming it was about some recent eco-friendly upgrades to my house. When I asked how they got my contact details, they said it was from some "renewable energy list". I mentioned my number's on the do-not-call register, so they really shouldn't be phoning me. Then they just ended the call. The very next day, got the exact same call again. Best to just ignore and block them straight away.

This bloke said he was from some “green energy” firm but when I asked how he got hold of my unlisted number, he just clammed up and ended the call. Honestly, when will Ofcom stop faffing about and take proper action against these scammers? The Ofcom chief should really justify his fat paycheck by cracking down on these dodgy cold callers. Got a call today from some bloke named Chris, said he was a "Local Energy Advisor" from "The Green Energy Centre". This was the second time he’s rang me today. He went on about how my loft insulation, supposedly an old "government grant", was causing condensation issues. When he asked my age, I fibbed. Then I asked him where his company was based and he just dropped dead silent. Told him to piss off, but reckon he didn’t catch that, so maybe he’ll call back and I can give him the full earful properly.

Some bloke named Jack gave me a bell, sounded like he was reading off a script or something. I kept trying to cut him off but he wouldn’t stop yammering about some personal sperm system and kept asking if I was over 50! When he hesitated a bit, I told him straight up it was dodgy and then blocked the number. This 012021-ish number has called me a few times now, all the same rubbish.

Even though I’m on the TPS list, I keep getting loads of calls from 01202 143xxx, like the one from 143297 that called me twice within half an hour. I don’t pick up, just let the answerphone get them, but they always hang up. Checked here and it’s clearly some sort of scam.

Got a call from a bloke claiming to be with an energy firm, chatting about loft insulation issues. He said there’s some dodgy stuff used in the past decade causing mould and condensation, and it needs checking every couple of years. Watch out, this is a fake energy saving scheme, nothing to do with the government. I wouldn’t trust them at all. From what I’ve seen, they ring from a few different numbers but all start with the same first 8 digits. The last three numbers I recognise are 283, 276, and 271. Avoid any contact!

definitely a scam. ive been getting calls from a bunch of numbers all starting with 01202, like 080xxx, then 137xxx and now ones like 143%0cx and 143297. they say they’re energy advisors from the government, saying they found my house is badly insulated. these lot should be shut down and taken to court, they’re just ripping people off.

The number was unfamiliar but I answered anyway. There was complete silence on both ends for minutes, no one saying a word. After a while, I hung up. A legit person wouldn’t just stay quiet like that. I've since blocked it, but I reckon they'll probably ring back using a different number.

I got a call from someone who sounded totally robotic, claiming to be from the "residential green standard centre" somewhere in southwest London. Funny thing is, the number they called from showed up with a Bournemouth area code. They wanted to know how old I was and asked about my loft insulation. Then they told me to jot down a phone number on paper and said their manager would call me back in about 20 minutes. The number they gave me was 07835-018238, but I decided not to pick up when they called.
