I've had two calls from someone claiming to be John at the energy advice centre out in south west London. The number was slightly different the second time, swapping the last digit from a 4 to a 7. I told them I was on the telephone preference service and then suddenly they just went silent. Definitely sounds like a scam.

I've been receiving calls from what appears to be a rather dodgy automated system, designed to impersonate a human. The voice claims to be either Chris, Cliff, Patrick, or Alex, purporting to represent my local energy advisor (a role that, quite frankly, doesn't even exist). Their tactic is to nudge you into consenting to a survey for loft insulation, under the guise of alarm about potential mould in your loft due to traditional insulation methods. The calls seem to emanate from various numbers, all beginning with 012021432xx. If you wish to cut the conversation short, just hang up or simply respond "no" when they first ask, "I understand that you are the homeowner." Alternatively, if you're feeling a bit mischievous and have a spare moment, you could keep them going in circles by prompting them to repeat their spiel!

I never pick up calls from numbers I don’t recognise. There was no voicemail left, so it’s pretty clear it’s some sort of automated call. That number has always been unlisted or private for me. I looked it up through your site. Honestly, these kinds of calls are just ridiculous.

Got a call from a bloke who said his name was Chris, but this was actually the second time he'd phoned me, couple of weeks apart. First time he rang, I told him there was no way I was climbing into my loft and insisted my insulation was fine. Honestly, I was left scratching my head wondering who on earth that might be, and that set off my internal alarms right away! He then had the cheek to ask if I was the owner of the property. Cue my second alarm bell ringing - as a visitor staying with my brother, the house is solely in his name, not mine! So, I decided to press him for the name of the person he was supposedly trying to reach. There was an awkward silence that followed, which only heightened my suspicion. I pressed on, asking, “Are you going to respond or just sit there quietly? What's the name of the person you’re after?” To my utter disbelief, 'Alex' not only ignored me - the nerve! - but then promptly hung up the phone! As others have pointed out, this is the typical behaviour of a scammer, going all hush-hush before cutting the line. They’re clearly fishing for details to rip off unsuspecting folks. And honestly, who knew that a phone number from Bournemouth would ring local to North West Kent? Talk about clueless! I'm not letting this slide; I’m reporting this to the fraud squad and the police right away.

I keep receiving countless calls from numbers that all begin with 01202143..., and it's infuriating! The last three digits change every time I block one, making it an endless cycle. It’s clearly some sort of scam, and I reckon someone ought to investigate these calls (maybe BT could step in?).
