This was just like what others said. Got a call from someone saying his name was Chris and he was our area's Energy Advisor or something like that (said he was calling from Bournemouth? Not likely, we're up North). He kept insisting our loft insulation was old and needed updating. Over the past couple months, I've received about six calls from this number. Each time, a recorded voice says something like "Hi, Simon here from your local energy consultant," mentioning your postcode. Then it goes on with, "hope you’re doing okay today?" If you don’t respond, there’s a long pause before it just hangs up. I guess if you try to answer, they might transfer you somewhere. Tried searching the number online but couldn’t find anything about it.

Got a call from some bloke saying he’s from Windows and Doors, asking how old our windows are and if we fancied replacing them. Said something about a new ‘scrappage scheme’. Also mentioned they were setting up a branch nearby but wouldn’t say exactly where when I asked. The line cut out once but then he called back anyway, bit odd if you ask me.

DO NOT ANSWER these callers, they’re nothing but pests. They called pretending to be from a local loft insulation survey and started asking if I was aged between 55-75 or 75-85. When I told them I’m under 50, they just said thanks and hung up. What they didn't realise was that this is a secure line, monitored by the police because it’s a business phone. We’ve got loads of filters blocking numbers, so it’s a mystery how they got through, but the authorities will handle it. Please warn any elderly family or friends, it’s dodgy how they only want to chat to older folks.

Then another time, they rang again saying they were from a health service. I didn’t catch all the details on my answerphone but they insisted I had to get back to them.

Beware of calls from people using names like Chris, Tom, Craig, Simon, or Patrick - they actually link back to a guy called Stuart Wright, born 19/01/1965. The phone number, plus similar ones tied to the same kind of scam, trace back to an address at 21a Plymouth Road, Barnt Green, Birmingham, B45 8JF. That’s where Stuart Wright lives, so at least we have a location for this conman. No surprise he’s operating from a massive, expensive house valued at millions! Turns out he’s a big tech nerd and behind all those annoying loft insulation scam calls too.

As loads of others have pointed out, the guy running this loft scam is a proper cheat named Stuart Wright, living at 21a Plymouth Road, Barnt Green, Birmingham. This number, plus a bunch of others, are all linked to him and that address. No surprise he’s got a fancy big house - the bloke just keeps ripping people off! He’s been reported a few times but hasn’t stopped. Keep flagging him so something gets done, because none of us deserve to be treated like this.
