I told him we hadn’t signed up for any scheme, but he insisted the insulation might be defective and cause mould or damp issues. I said our insulation’s alright, we did it ourselves, and then ended the call. Few hours later, he rings again; I told him straight up I’m not interested and to stop calling.

I picked up the phone and got this pre-recorded message from a very polished British gentleman telling me I could qualify for some kind of grant to replace my boiler. He told me I just had to press some buttons on the phone to answer ten questions. I didn’t bother going any further and just ended the call. It’s pretty obvious this is a scam and probably targets older folks who might be more trusting. You’d think it’d be easier to find out who actually owns this number.

I reckon it’s one of those automated calls that ring out loads of numbers at once and just chat with whoever answers first. They never leave a voicemail either.
