They rang me this morning and sounded a bit caught off guard when I picked up. They said my home was flagged in a recent check for having outdated loft insulation, which might lead to mould issues. This number keeps ringing me constantly. Today I finally picked up and asked how I could be sure it wasn’t just a spam call. I told them before I’d let anyone near my home, I needed to know exactly who they were. When I asked how they knew about the insulation in my loft, he claimed there’s a government database with that info for every house in the country... which sounded pretty dodgy to me. Then he suddenly got really quiet and said his manager would get in touch because he was new and couldn’t answer some of my questions. Oddly enough, every time it’s been the same “Chris” ringing me.

I asked for his name and the firm he worked for, then told him I’d just looked them up online. Like with others, when I questioned him, he just talked over me, then finally hung up. I've been getting these calls quite a few times now, and the last one was just plain weird. There’s this local energy advisor called Chris from Green Eco Centre who’s been ringing me at least seven times. I told them to quit calling because I wasn’t interested and something about their calls felt off. I just hung up straight away on the 4th to 6th calls, couldn’t be bothered with the same spiel over and over. But today’s call was different - this girl with a strange accent, not really native sounding, said she’d ring back later since she was looking after her mum who apparently had a mild stroke. Then she finished with “Okay baby? Bye…” which just creeped me out. Calling me baby? That voice kept changing or something - I can’t really explain it, but it was super odd. I stayed on the line a bit longer just to see what was going on, but after she said goodbye the call just cut off. Totally bizarre. Is this some sort of scam, using a sick mum story to get money or something? Can’t make head or tail of it at all.

I got a call from the number 01202137534 and it’s been bugging me for a while. Today, I finally decided to hear them out. The man on the phone said his name was Chris and claimed to be ringing from some Green Eco Centre based in South London, but the number didn’t seem local at all. He offered a free check-up for our loft insulation, telling me old insulation can cause condensation problems. Then he went on about replacing it with new stuff that would supposedly cut my energy bills by around 30%. He said a private firm would handle the job, and we’d get government help with the cost. When I asked which scheme that was, he couldn’t give me a straight answer. He kept asking my age, if I owned the house, and when the insulation was last checked, insisting my place was one of the last in the area with old insulation. I questioned him on how he knew when my insulation was done according to his list, then quickly moved the conversation to ask about the new tech they’d use. He started talking about some foam spray that makes the insulation airtight - seemed like cavity insulation to me. The whole thing felt really fishy and confusing, and I’m not sure what he was actually after.

I wasn't convinced it was legit so I asked my hubby to pick up when they called back about 15 minutes later and just tell them we weren't keen. I keep blocking them but this bloke, Chris, just keeps switching numbers. I’ve picked up a couple times and told him I’m not the homeowner and to stop calling. Today I answered again to see what he’d say and it was the usual script. I told him I’d check out his company info and get back to them, then he just hung up.

Got a call yet again from Chris on 01202 159509, and there’s been loads from numbers starting 0102 159, then some like 131, 486 and so on over the past few weeks. Seems like he’s maybe going through a rough patch or struggling somehow to be making these calls to earn money? Could be he’s not feeling too great either. Like a few others mentioned, I got a ring from someone named Chris claiming to be from the Green Eco Centre, trying to convince me his call was different from the usual spammers. What’s tricky is, they apparently switch up their phone number every time they call, which makes it a nightmare to block them properly. It’s super frustrating. When I finally asked for the company's name and location, they struggled to answer properly. All they said was "Gree Eco Centre." I brought up the TPS registry and requested to speak with a manager, but the call just dropped. Total scammers, best to avoid them entirely.

I got a call from 01202 159144, but didn’t catch the bloke’s name. He was offering a free survey for over 50s, saying old loft insulation might cause mould and damp. When I asked which company he was from, he said Green Eco Centre. I tried to ask some more questions, but he kept talking over me and didn’t give proper answers. I told him to stop dodging my questions and he said his manager would get back to me. I had given him my age group and the spelling of my surname, so now I’m a bit worried about that. After seeing others’ comments, I rang them back and got a recorded message saying something about digital marketing solutions and that they may call me again. Then, I got a missed call from a mobile number 07443271446 about half an hour later but didn’t pick up.

I received a call from 01202137131 regarding a complimentary loft insulation assessment for people over 50. They mentioned the firm was Green Echo Centre. After they said they’d ring me again, a polite woman did get back in touch. But the company named this time was called Home Improvements Ltd. It felt like a sneaky automated call, especially when she quickly tried to book an appointment using the name Freddy Krueger at 10 Elm Street, HA8 666 without any pause. Definitely steer clear of these calls.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Green Eco Centre, pretending the survey they offered was some sort of helpful service, saying that most insulation ends up causing condensation. The truth is, they’re pushing spray foam for loft insulation that sticks to the underside of the roof felt and rafters. As a Chartered Surveyor who’s checked hundreds of roofs, I can say for sure that spraying foam under rafters is far more likely to create condensation issues rather than fixing them. If condensation does happen with regular insulation, the right fix is to add more eaves ventilation, not swap out or take the insulation away. Complete rip-off and totally misleading!

Then I wanted a website to check their credentials, but he said his manager would send that once they booked a loft inspection. He told me I was listed on some “MG Performance Register” and claimed to be ringing from the “Green Eco Centre”. When I asked if they were a government agency or a private firm, he just hung up on me.
