I chose not to answer, and it just ended up being a silent disconnect, which I'm glad about after looking it up on this site. It’s a really clever tool to verify sketchy calls or ones from unknown numbers. It'd be even more useful if they reported persistent nuisance callers to the police or Ofcom. One complaint might be brushed off, but loads of reports could finally get the authorities' attention!

Phone me and called me by a name thats not mine. He said he was calling about insurance for kitchen stuff. I told him it was a cold call and just ended the call straight away.

Got a call earlier and they already had my banking info like they’d been given it before! I’ve never shared that with them, yet they knew my insurance cost, the make of my washing machine, and my bank details! I rang Appliance & Domestic (where I’m a customer) thinking they might’ve passed my info on, but they were clueless about how this other firm got those details or the insurance amount. They sounded really worried, promised to look into it and told me to contact the police asap.

Dodgy call. They want you to set up a Direct Debit for your appliances, but it’s a trap. Best to steer clear and don’t answer.

somebody calling about insurance for household appliances - mentioned a Hotpoint washing machine or fridge (he wasn’t sure which one I owned - actually, I don’t have either) so I asked where he’d got my phone number from. he said it was linked to when I bought a Hotpoint. I told him I never gave my number and that under GDPR they shouldn’t be calling me without permission. after that, he just ended the call.

If these people keep calling, tell them you’ll take legal steps. Breaching this law and using your info without permission can lead to a big fine.

I received an odd phone call the other day; the bloke on the line knew my name straight away and then proceeded to ask me to verify that I was indeed myself. He went on to question me about my home appliance insurance, which was rather confusing as I don't actually have any policies like that. When I informed him of this, he just said, “Apologies, I must have dialled the wrong number,” and hung up rather rudely. It’s a bit perplexing, isn’t it? If he had my name right, how could it possibly be an incorrect number? Quite the lack of courtesy, if you ask me!

Pretty much like what’s been mentioned already. She insisted our white goods (bar the boiler) were covered by her company. When I said they weren’t, she asked me who the provider was. The chat got kinda weird and I actually asked if she was a bot (I honestly thought she might be). She replied she could be! I suppose it was just a minor hassle for me for five minutes, but she probably does this all day long. Bit sad really.

Mentioned two different names, Home Assist and Domestic Assist. I am already with two firms that have ‘home’ and ‘domestic’ in their titles. He suggested they’d be moving me to a cheaper deal. When I asked if D&G knew about this, he dodged the question. He got quite pushy about me giving my bank info over the phone. I said send me the paperwork first, but he kept pressing for my bank details. I wasn’t ready to give that over the phone, so I just ended the call. Glad I did after reading these reviews.

Just got a guy named Alex on the line, sounded proper smug like he was doing me a favour or summat. Let him talk rubbish for a bit then told him I wasn’t interested and to do one. He hung up straight away. Like I said before, don’t be tricked into thinking this is Domestic and General, who I use and think are top-notch. These lot are just scammers!

On my third attempt, I spoke to a woman who was overflowing with apologies and assured me that a manager would get back to me. They appear to identify themselves as Domestic something or rather.

Just got a call from some guy named Jay who said he was ringing about my kitchen appliances (I’m insured with someone else). I asked what appliances he meant and he said Hotpoint (like loads of people have Hotpoint stuff). Then I pressed him to explain what the policy was about, but surprise, surprise, the dodgy bloke had no clue. He called me rude and started getting really narky. I told him straight he was a proper scammer and then he just hung up on me.

got a call from someone called alex claiming to be from domestic assist, but when i looked it up, i couldn't find any company like that in the UK. we’re registered with the tps, so i was a bit wary, but alex sounded quite polite. then he asked for my bank details, and i told him i wouldn’t share any info with a firm i’ve never heard of, so he just ended the call.

Got a call from domestic assist about some kind of price cut deal. I kept telling the person that we’ve got an insurance policy elsewhere and it’s nothing to do with them, but they just didn’t get it. Got a call from some 'domestic assist' offering a cheaper quote for my Hotpoint, told them I wasn’t interested. Similar tune last year trying to renew my dom gen plan. Things got fishy when she asked for my full 16-digit card number, expiry date and the 4-digit code. I asked why she needed banking info she should already have, then she just cut me off. Reported it to domgen and the cops. If she hadn’t pushed so hard for those 4 digits, it might’ve been legit.

Got a call from some home services place claiming I could get a cheaper deal than what I’m already paying (to a completely different outfit!). They said they’d post me new documents. Oddly, they had my sort code but asked for my full bank account number to switch my direct debit to the lower price. When I wouldn’t share it, they kept reassuring me it was all safe thanks to the direct debit guarantee and said if I didn’t give it, they couldn’t help me any further. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

Got a call from someone saying they were from First Assist and somehow knew my washing machine model. They tried to convince me I'd already paid for insurance on it and offered a better deal if I wanted to renew with them. When I told them I don’t bother insuring my appliances and that I keep a close eye on my bank statements, they just hung up.
