On 21st Feb 2022 I got a call from someone saying he was Patrick, a local energy advisor. The weird thing was there was a silence when I picked up the phone before he actually spoke. Got a call on my house phone that hardly ever rings, so I figured it was dodgy. The person claimed to be from the energy supplier and said my place had old insulation up in the loft causing damp patches. Before they could carry on, I said “Cheers for the heads up, I’ll sort that out,” then ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

Got a call from someone named Alex on the 21st of February at 12.08. He said he was ringing from the Green Guideline Centre based in London. He went on and on about how the government has these energy efficiency rules and how our postcode was one of the last ones eligible for some kind of scheme. When I asked for his company's website or any proof to check them out, he just cut the call straight away! Sounds like a proper scam to me!

This isn't just a one-off thing; they use loads of different numbers to bug people. Seriously, report them to the police and also get British Telecom involved. Lately, I’ve been getting a bunch of calls about insulation. Funny enough, I swear I heard the same person’s voice come through each time! I got a call from someone saying that a certain yellow loft insulation might be causing damp and condensation in certain homes. They said they’d send out a surveyor to check it out. Apparently, if you’re over 50, the survey costs nothing and the replacement insulation is free too. But for those under 50, the survey costs £75. They only wanted my last name and mentioned a manager would ring back to sort out a suitable time. I’ve decided to block the number now.
