Received a call on my mobile just now. It appears to be one of those automated systems, as the line goes silent as soon as I pick up.

I began a conversation regarding fibreglass insulation in the attic and posed a query, but there was no reply. It seemed as though I was speaking to a recorded message, so I ended the call.

Some lady rang me saying she was one of the energy consultants for our locality and wanted to talk about attic insulation. She went on about government schemes and how jobs are given to approved companies and that sort of thing. I told her we’d already had a few calls like that and I wasn't interested, then hung up. Out of curiosity, I dialled the number back, and to my surprise, the very same script was repeated - exact phrases all over again. Definitely seems like a scam to me.

They keep ringing from almost the same number, just tweaking the last couple of digits every day. Seems like a classic scammer trick to me, flooding people with calls like that. Don’t think these lot are above board at all. Personally, I wouldn’t let them anywhere near my house. Best bet is to get in touch with your council if you’re after info on grants or schemes for insulation work.

I've had this number and a few similar ones (they just swap the last couple of digits) ring me over 19 times in the past fortnight! Caller keeps ringing but won’t tell me their name. Feels like they’re some kind of automated bot trying to gather info before handing you off to an actual person. I’ve started reporting all this to the ICO to get it sorted.
