Got a call about replacing a fibreglass insulator or something, no clue who it was. The weird thing is the number they showed up as calling from was already on my block list, but it still came through. Seems like they’re spoofing the number. Classic phishing scam stuff.

I've been getting calls from a bunch of different numbers that all seem to come from the 0117 area code, yet they’re clearly based in the same office. Despite me asking time and again to have my numbers taken off their list, they haven’t bothered to sort it out. It’s rather infuriating, to say the least! The entire team over there really comes across as quite naïve and dismissive. When I try to explain that I don’t want anything to do with them and request they delete my information, they simply hang up instead of addressing the matter. It’s truly baffling how clueless they all are!

Got a call from someone saying there was fibreglass insulation in my attic and that the heart and lung foundation said it could be harmful. Sounded like they were just sticking to a script and didn’t let me get a word in. The number they called from suggested they were based in Bristol. Ended up hanging up and blocking them straight away.

A lady phoned me on my work mobile, insisting she was an energy advisor. When I probed her about how she obtained my number, she became quite defensive and started demanding my address and various other personal details. I declined to provide that information, and she abruptly hung up. It’s obvious this was a scam aimed at fishing for personal data.

The phone went off, but I couldn't get to it in time. I decided to use the 1471 service to find out who had tried to reach me, only to be greeted by a robotic voice. This woman, who introduced herself as an 'energy advisor', began rambling on about how glass fibre insulation in lofts could pose risks and insisted I ought to have it investigated. It felt quite dodgy, almost like some sort of telemarketing tactic or a scam, so I promptly hung up. I’ve even gone for an unlisted number to steer clear of these bothersome calls, but it doesn't seem to be doing the trick!

Absolute scam artists. They dial from tons of fake UK numbers created by computers, all over the globe, so trying to block them is pointless. Plus, some phone networks only let you block a certain amount of numbers before it stops working. The smartest thing is to always report suspicious calls to the police via their Action Fraud phishing site. Also, it might be worth contacting your MP to ask why the UK hasn’t adopted the Caller ID Authentication system that the US uses - that would sort out a lot of these bogus calls.

For the last 5 weeks, I've been getting calls from this number and a few others ending in 10, 12, 13, and 14, usually around 8:30am and sometimes about 4:30pm. These aren’t numbers I recognise, so I just let it ring and block them since they’re not in my contacts. From what I’ve seen, if they were legit, they’d leave a message, but they never do. I wouldn't recommend answering these calls at all. I’ve heard some phone providers offer call blocking features, and honestly, it’s a good idea to use them to stop these annoying calls and keep your sanity.

I had to hang up when she started fishing for personal details. A quick search on Google uncovered various discussions, including a thread on Reddit. It seems the dangers are rather exaggerated. I'm beginning to wonder if this is merely a ploy to generate business and burden the gullible with unnecessary expenses. Typical of dodgy tactics to circumvent the Telephone Preference Service, considering they argue that providing advice doesn't equate to selling.
