Got a call from 01174094781 but ignored it since I didn’t recognise the number. They never bothered to leave any kind of message either. Seems like just another annoying nuisance so I’ve gone ahead and blocked it now.

Ended up answering the phone and after a bit of a wait, this woman with an Asian accent said she was ringing from Aviva about lowering my life insurance costs. I told her I don’t have any policy with Aviva and then hung up straight away. Now I’ve blocked the number.

Somebody called claiming to be from the Postcode Lottery, saying I’d won a discount and a free flight. They asked for my bank details, which I found suspicious. I told them they should already have that info and that they could just email me if needed. They kept pushing and even tried to get me to agree to a direct debit. I figured it was a scam, told them so, and ended the call.

I got a call where they asked for me straight away. Could hear loads of background chatter like a call centre. I didn’t have the number saved. The moment I asked, "Who is this?" they just ended the call right away.

Some bloke with an Indian accent called, said he was from the postcode lottery and was congratulating me on winning some sort of discount card. He asked me to confirm my email address, but I told him they should already have that, so why bother asking? I wouldn’t give it. Then he switched tack and said they need to send a penny to my bank account to activate the card and asked for my direct debit number. He kept saying no bank details would be shared, just the direct debit number. I declined to give anything and he ended the call straight away once I refused.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with the postcode lottery. He told me I'd won some kind of special discount card that would get me half off meals at restaurants. But first, he wanted me to let them put 1p into my bank account to check it was mine. Seemed dodgy to me!

I made it clear that I was quite cautious of potential scams and pointed out that since he had contacted me and I was indeed a participant in the lottery, he must already possess my details. I firmly told him that I wouldn’t provide any information. He replied affirmatively, claiming that they indeed had my information before abruptly ending the call!
