Got a call from 01174094938, some bloke saying he was from BT, checking why my internet was slow. He wouldn’t say who he really was or verify any of my info. Then he tried to get me to install this ‘anydesk remote access’ app on my phone so he could get in. I wasn’t having any of it and told him to jog on pretty quick. Bit pushy when I said no, frankly.

It’s so frustrating - isn’t there anything the police or whoever can do about these never-ending calls messin’ about with my phone?

Came across a rather dodgy call from a bloke who sounded like he could barely string a sentence together. Something about "We have a special offer," he said. Right, as if! Perhaps it's time he looked for something more legitimate to do with his time.

I just didn’t feel like chatting with them though. Plus, their fast Indian accent was really hard for me to get - probably 'cos I’m not so young any more!

Got a call from what sounded like one of those scam call centres, probably from Pakistan or India. I just told the bloke off nicely and then ended the call. Seriously, don't get caught up in their nonsense or you might lose some money from your account.

Got a call from an Asian man claiming to be from BT, telling me there was a fault with my internet. I told him no, my internet was working fine because I was online right then. He said he'd just sent me an email, so I asked which address he used. He gave me a Virgin Media email, which is odd since I’ve never even had one of those. Pretty clear it was a scam and I told him exactly that.

Got a couple of calls from 0117 409 4938 today. The first one, at about 12.40, said they were with BT and had something to do with my internet. Didn't sound right, so I just ended the call. Then, not long after at 1.45, the very same number rang again, this time pretending to be Virgin Media about my broadband. Pretty sure it’s some sort of scam, so I cut the call straight away.

This is an age-old con, isn't it? They ring you up claiming there are problems with your internet service and urge you to install some software. But in reality, it’s just a sneaky way to get you to download a virus!

Quite amusing really, as I was in the midst of a live chat with their support when the call came through! I requested the account number from the woman as proof of her affiliation with Virgin, and she promptly went silent and ended the call. Not at all shocking, is it?

A chap rang me claiming to be from BT, talking about my sluggish internet. He requested that I measure my speed on my computer, but I mentioned I was rather preoccupied at the moment. He then promptly ended the call. I noticed he had a distinct Indian accent, and there were quite a few sounds in the background, making it seem like he was in a busy call centre.
