On 16/11/21, I got a call from this number claiming I was owed money from a mortgage from over four decades ago. The man on the line had my name, phone number, and address, but then asked for my date of birth. I refused to give it out over the phone, and he just hung up immediately after. Pretty suspicious if you ask me.

Got a call from someone claiming I was owed money from a PPI refund on a mortgage or loan. They asked for my date of birth. I asked them to clarify which specific loan or mortgage they were talking about, and they said it was linked to my Halifax account. I told them I’ve never had a mortgage or loan with Halifax, then they just ended the call.

They called and wanted to talk to a certain first and last name, but I gave them my maiden name instead since I’ve had a different surname for over a decade. When I asked what company they were with, the person mumbled something about life insurance. I pressed them on where they got my number from and they just said it was from their “company database.” When I asked which company, all I got was “our company database” before they just cut the call. Total scam if you ask me.

Still, they kept on and even handed me over to some manager or something. I wouldn’t share any of my details and eventually they gave up. Think other people might easily get caught out by this.
