I got a call from Troy on this number saying my computer was infected or something like that. I told him my hubby runs a computer business and he acted like he had no clue about that! I just ended the call. He tried ringing me back four times but thankfully didn’t leave any voicemail. It’s awful how many scam calls we’re constantly getting these days.

I ended the call but they phoned me right away again. Afterwards, I got a voicemail calling me ignorant and rude, telling me to answer. Then, they rang once more within less than a minute, this time calling me illiterate and claiming I’m risking my family by not speaking to them. Definitely a sketchy number to watch out for.

Some bloke named John gave me a ring the other day. Not quite sure where he’s from, but his accent was definitely not local. He kept going on about my computer, so I asked him which one he meant, and he didn’t get what I was asking at all. I hung up, and straight away he called back, but I just let it ring out. Pretty clear this was one of those dodgy calls coming from abroad.

Some woman phoned me claiming to be from BT, saying my computer had been hacked. I told her I didn't think she was actually from BT and quickly ended the call. Then she called back, telling me she'd keep ringing if I hung up again. In the end, I just pulled the phone cable out.

This woman called claiming to be from an energy firm, didn’t even bother replying properly when I asked her why she was ringing. I kept saying "hello" but she only spoke after a while. When I asked again what the call was about, she barely answered, just mentioned something about energy and asked if I owned a business. Honestly, she sounded daft. I told her straight up she was trying to scam me and was really awful.

Received a right dodgy phone call purporting to be from Windows, asserting that my computer had been compromised and that hackers were after my account doing all sorts of illegal activities. They claimed that since my name is on the account, I'd be held liable. They insisted that if I didn’t act immediately, my online access would be shut down. I promptly told the caller that we don't own a computer at all (just an iPad), and that I recognised this as a scam, so I hung up. Would you believe it, they tried calling back! I chose not to pick up, and the voicemail they left was a tedious ramble in terrible English, berating me for ignoring them and calling me an idiot for wasting their time. The nerve! They attempted a third call, and once again, I ignored it. I had already done my research on the number to solidify my suspicions. Stay vigilant, folks!

Got a call from someone pretending to be from Windows, telling me my computer was hacked and that my account was involved in illegal stuff. They said since the account had my name, I’d be responsible. They warned me if I didn’t act right away, all my online access would be blocked. I told them I don’t even own a computer, just an iPad, and said it sounded like a scam before hanging up. They called back, but I ignored it. Later, they left a really confusing voicemail in bad English, calling me stupid for not picking up and saying I was wasting their time! Then they tried a third time to call, but I still didn’t answer. I had already googled the number to check, and yep, total scam. Watch out for this one!

Cheshire: I got a call that seemed like one of those typical scams from overseas, with someone pretending they were from some fake department of a computer company, claiming my computer service would be cut off unless I acted. Normally, I’d just hang up or they’d back off once you show you don’t believe them. But this one was worse than usual. First, my wife answered and honestly said she didn’t even have a computer or use the internet, and then put the phone down. Right away, the caller rang back, sounding annoyed, yelling "Don't hang up on me - we know you’ve got a computer." My wife hung up again. Then they called back again just seconds later, and I picked up. This time, the woman knew my surname and told me not to deny having a computer or hang up like my wife did. She was very rude, threatening that they knew what my computer was and that I would be disconnected. I hung up and tried calling 1471 to get their number, but it just kept ringing busy. It's quite worrying, especially thinking about older relatives getting caught out by this. And all this despite being on the Telephone Preference Service! Definitely a nasty experience to watch out for.
