Some bloke with an Asian accent rang our charity line, claiming he wanted to assist with our gas and electric bills. He started off by saying, "Hi, how’re you doing?" The first guy was polite and spoke English clearly, but the second caller later on had such a thick accent that I struggled to catch what he was saying. It was pretty obvious it was a scam. So yesterday I got a call from a number starting with ###, and today it was from 01163. They said my computer had been hacked and that’s why they were calling me??!! I needed to pop to the shop and buy six Google Play cards, each worth ### Euros. Once I sorted that, I had to connect again through TeamViewer, which I’d already downloaded thinking they were genuinely trying to help. Looking back, I think their main goal was just to access my PC. The bloke said his name was Jerry and claimed he worked for Microsoft. The call dragged on for about two hours... bleurgh. After hanging up, I rang a mate who told me Microsoft NEVER calls people out of the blue to fix your computer. Just thought I’d share, hopefully it stops someone else falling for it.

Got a call from 001163183616 today around midday. It was a robotic voice, obviously a computer. They said they were HMRC and warned me about a possible lawsuit for tax evasion. I figured it was dodgy because (a) I know I’m not in trouble, and (b) HMRC wouldn't usually reach out like this for real cases. So, I just ignored it and didn’t press 1 like they asked.

001163183616 rang claiming to be from HMRC. Left a message on my voicemail. It was a weird American voice saying her name was Claire, telling me to call back because I supposedly have a case against me. The odd part is she said my caseworker works for the NYPD!! I’m certain I’ve paid all my taxes properly, and HMRC would send a letter if there was an issue. I reckon this kind of call could really upset someone who’s more vulnerable!

Getting loads of calls from numbers starting 01163, but the last six digits keep changing. They’re always from scammers saying there’s an issue with my computer, sometimes pretending to be Microsoft. Most of them have strong Asian accents. That area code is for Leicester, right? It’s crazy how this kind of obvious fraud goes on and no one seems to stop them or catch the people behind it. 01163 500068 rang me at 9:30am on Friday 24th March 2017, only silence on the other end, no one said a word, just kept ringing like they wanted to see if anyone was there. I phoned back and an american voice told me “the number you have dialled is not in service”. This isn’t the first time they’ve called and left me feeling annoyed and bothered for no good reason.
