A message was left on my phone from someone calling themselves Reminy Wilson, claiming they were from HMRC. The voicemail was really intimidating, telling me to get in touch with her along with my criminal lawyer, or else they’d have an arrest warrant issued against me and terrible things would happen. Definitely a scam, so I just blocked the number and deleted the message!

Today I got a call from a guy speaking with a strong Indian accent, and his English was pretty poor. He said he was from HMRC, but something didn’t seem right at all. I was sure it was a scam straight away!

Got a call from someone saying they were HMRC. Didn’t pick up first time but they rang back straight away. I answered and the person was way too quick with their words, seemed very fishy. Definitely sounds like a scam to me.

This number 0114 700 2280 has rung me loads, and the voicemail they left sounded totally robotic, which made me suspicious instantly. When I phoned back, an Indian guy who said he was ‘Mr Martin’ 😂 asked for my name. I only told him my first name, and when he wanted my surname, I refused. He got quite grumpy, so I matched his mood and pushed back... they clearly didn’t enjoy that. If they call you, don’t be shy about being firm and calling them out, it’ll really throw them off!

I've had the same call ringing me two times now from someone claiming to be from HMRC, saying I'm under investigation for tax fraud. The guy sounded super real and scared me so much I ended up nearly in tears. He talked about the high court and said I had to pay £998 or else I'd face court action. He called himself Roman Fletcher, had an Asian accent, and said he worked as a high court officer in London. At one point, he even made me open the gov.uk website which totally freaked me out. I didn’t give them any bank info but feeling so stupid for almost falling for it 😥
