Had a missed call earlier, then got a robo voicemail saying I had to call back right away about some supposed criminal issues. Just ignored it and deleted the message straight away.

Yesterday morning I got a call from someone pretending to be HMRC, telling me I had to get a lawyer involved because I was in serious trouble with a hefty fine. They told me to call a different number. I blocked that number straight away. Later, around 3pm, I got another call left on my voicemail threatening legal action. The voices sounded like they were generated by a computer, and they never mentioned my name. That made me suspicious, so I checked this site and found out it was definitely a scam. When will these kinds of calls be stopped and the scammers brought to justice?

Got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC. I called back and the bloke on the other end said he was from there too, but none of the usual official checks were done. It definitely felt off, like a scam. Wouldn’t trust it, could be risky.

20th Jan - HMRC scam alert

I received a call from +44 114 700 2290.

They left a voicemail demanding my reference number. When I questioned them and mentioned I was recording the conversation, suddenly someone yelled “Jackson, fetch the gun, we’re heading to this lady’s place”.

I immediately ended the call and blocked the number.

The voicemail claimed to be from officer Dennis Grey, asking me to ring 0161 250 3697 or face legal action. That number is now dead.
