Got a dodgy call from 02 again, this time from Sheffield. Earlier this year, I got caught out by a scammer pretending to be from 02, but the number was actually from Leeds. It was a right nightmare trying to get my 02 account sorted and put back to normal afterwards. Honestly, it's so annoying that these scammers seem to have found a way to get hold of 02 account details!

There was this odd pause for a few seconds when I picked up, which instantly told me it was one of those automated calls about to link me to a real person. So, without thinking twice, I just ended the call straight away.

A couple of comments down explain ways to help reduce these scams and why just blocking might not be enough. Reporting them takes a bit of time but it’s no harder than searching for info and sharing it here. The police’s fraud reporting system doesn’t even ask for your personal info. It won’t fix things overnight, but right now the police don’t really know how big a problem this is, so they can’t properly respond. Your MP might give a rather ‘interesting’ reply, but unless lots of people report these calls and messages, nothing will change to put an end to it.

They kept talking about some 30% discount deal on your account and then pretend to help you recover it if you’re an o2 customer.
