If you hear someone speaking with an Indian accent, I'd strongly advise against picking up the phone!

Had a look at what others were saying and decided to block the number straight away.

Got a spam call earlier, and as soon as I asked who they were representing, the person just dropped the call straight away.

Nearly every call I get with an Indian accent seems fishy these days. I've heard so many stories about scams coming from that area, I just don’t trust them anymore. They often pretend to be NHS COVID follow-ups, but honestly, it’s all a load of rubbish and really dodgy. If you get a random call with that accent, best to hang up and block the number right away. If it's something legit, they’ll send a letter through the post, no need to answer these calls.

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent who claimed she was with Citizens Advice UK. She said the Financial Conduct Authority had passed on my info to them. Seemed a bit dodgy to me.

They keep calling me like 5 times a day, it's becoming proper annoying.

They started off asking if I'd been vaccinated, then quickly moved onto questions about my health insurance, my job, and how much I cough up for coverage. When I refused to answer, they got all annoyed and just slammed the phone down.

Somebody called with an Indian accent claiming they were from public health, asking a bunch of questions about Covid and vaccines first. After all that, they finally said the real reason for calling was to check if I had life insurance. Definitely felt a bit dodgy.

I got a call claiming to be from the NHS, asking about Covid. At first, it seemed alright, so I answered a few questions which were nothing I wouldn't tell a random passerby. But then they wanted to know who my insurance provider was. When I refused to share that, the call just cut off. Seems like it was a scam trying to get my private details.

No voicemail was left. I tried ringing back but the number was no good. Since it’s not a valid number, I can’t even block it. Seriously, this needs to be sorted out immediately.

They called pretending to be from the NHS but weirdly wanted info about my life insurance, which made no sense at all. Definitely felt like a dodgy scam.

They rang me twice. The first call was from a lady claiming to be from the NHS doing a survey about the Covid-19 jab, and I was alright with that. But then she suddenly switched to talking insurance and wanted to check my info, so I told her straight that it sounded like a scam and ended the call. A couple of months later, they tried calling again, but I just ignored it.

CON ARTIST - STEER CLEAR!

Received a call concerning Covid - absolute nonsense!
4 years
Absolutely! This caller poses as someone from a public health institution or government body, probing you about COVID, before swiftly transitioning to discuss life insurance. It's either a con or a clever tactic to gather personal information for marketing purposes. Be very cautious!

I received a phone call from someone who mentioned a name I haven’t gone by in over six years. I informed them that their records were outdated and requested they refrain from contacting me again. Yet, just a minute later, the same chap rang back from 0116 500 7151. I reminded him, quite firmly, that he’d been asked not to call me anymore! He began to ramble on about some debt nonsense. At that point, I pointed out that he was violating the law and promptly ended the conversation.

CON ARTIST - STEER CLEAR!

I received a rather peculiar call from an Asian gentleman named "Gary," who claimed to be representing Public Health England. He was inquiring about my vaccination status and how I felt about the vaccination programme overall. Then, he went on to mention that the government was supposedly offering some sort of benefits, like discounts on health and life insurance, for those who are vaccinated and subsequently contract Covid. I found it all quite dubious and opted not to divulge any personal details, promptly ending the conversation. My advice to anyone is to steer clear of sharing any financial information or policy details with anyone who cold calls you. It’s best to keep your wits about you!

I experienced a similar situation - got roped into what turned out to be a life insurance con, cleverly disguised as a COVID questionnaire.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from the NHS about the covid vaccine. They already had my name, postcode, and address which was a bit worrying. They asked if I’d experienced any issues with the jab, then suddenly started talking about insurance stuff. I just ended the call there.

When I picked up the call, it took a moment because my phone was hooked up to the TV. Just as I was about to see who it was, the call dropped! I tried ringing back, and then got a message saying I'd dialled the wrong number? Bit odd if you ask me. 🤨

This bloke called saying he was Raheem from some Covid support team. He asked if I was the person by a name I used ages ago, like 7 years back. I told him that wasn’t me. Then he wanted to know my real name, but I just told him nah, I’m not giving it. Next thing he says my voice is nice and he wants to google me or something! I was like seriously, what the heck? Told him to delete my number, I’m gonna report you! He then says he loves me. I was proper freaked out and told him to get lost, then hung up and blocked straight away. What a weirdo!

Someone called claiming to be from the “national health covid-19 department”. I told them it wasn’t the right number since it was my work phone and usually gets calls for the person who used to be here. They asked for my name but I said it didn’t matter because I wasn’t the person they were after.

Received a call earlier claiming it was part of a COVID survey, but then they veered off into querying my health insurance and life coverage. They started fishing for specifics on both, at which point I found their questions rather intrusive and decided to stop the conversation. Seems a bit dodgy to me; I'm inclined to think it could be a scam.

It seems that discussions surrounding Covid jabs are becoming a gateway for some to push health insurance plans. Just a word of caution: stay alert and wary of such tactics.

This morning, an unusual call came through from a bloke with a foreign accent. He claimed he wanted to chat about my life insurance in light of the Covid situation. He mentioned needing to run a few questions by me related to my policy. I decided to cut the line, as it seemed he was just fishing for personal details.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Three, saying they had special deals for current customers. They actually knew my name and wanted to check my info, then asked me for my account password. I got a call from a guy with a strong Indian accent, who said he was checking up on my life insurance because of Covid. I told him I usually sort everything online, but he still went on asking if I was a non-smoker and other stuff. I asked him nicely to take me off their call list, but he just muttered something I couldn’t understand and then just hung up. Honestly, don’t trust these calls - it’s definitely a scam!

I received a call from a gentleman with an Asian accent who claimed that a third party had informed him about my supposed debts, particularly mentioning "Lowell". When I probed further, fully aware it was a scam, he told me to get lost in no uncertain terms. These scammers won’t clarify how much you supposedly owe or provide any specifics about who they’re contacting you on behalf of; their modus operandi relies on pressure tactics to extract personal details. PLEASE, everyone, don’t divulge any of your information to these con artists!
