someone called saying they were from Virgin, used my first name and asked when I’d be home to upgrade the router - then wanted my postcode and house number? I told them to send me an email like Virgin usually would. I didn’t share any details - seems like a scam, this is the third time I’ve had a call. I also get fake emails pretending to be Virgin saying my bill’s unpaid. I’ve blocked the email address but getting hold of Virgin is a nightmare as always… so these scams will just keep happening.

I think it’s really stressful and could be harmful, particularly for those living alone or without anyone to help them. Somebody rang me claiming to be from Virgin Media. I picked up and an Indian woman asked straight away if I was the account holder. I said “for what?” and she mentioned Virgin Media. She went on about some special offers and said I had to give my bank details to keep going. I said no way and she started pushing about this massive bundle deal for £8 a month with phone, TV and broadband all included. I just laughed and told her these scams are disgusting, then she hung up. I rang Virgin myself afterwards and they confirmed it wasn’t them. Watch out for this kind of thing!

So if you happen to update your account info, you might get calls from this dodgy number or something close to it, offering a better deal. For the past couple of days, I've been getting calls from +08001836403 and it looks like there might be a new number popping up come Friday! Seems like they're switching it up again.
