Got a call on my mobile from this number. The person wouldn’t say who they were. The line kept cutting out, especially when they were trying to say their name - felt dodgy! They did know my name and wanted me to verify it. Could be phishing? (I’ve had this number for about 25 years, so probably on loads of lists with my name). When I kept asking who they were and wouldn’t confirm my name, they just hung up. This is the second time this week they’ve called. I’m definitely blocking the number now.

I received a call earlier today from a number supposedly from the Netherlands. The person on the other end spoke fairly decent English and mentioned something about having a parcel to deliver. They wanted to double-check my home address and requested my email for sending confirmation regarding the package. I didn’t provide any information and decided to hang up instead. Can’t quite put my finger on it, but something felt off. Not sure if they had dubious motives, but it definitely raised my suspicions.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent, she was asking about some kind of licensing deal. Told me her email just stopped working and she lost all her contacts. We asked her for more info about her company. You could hear loads of people chatting in the background, sounded like a busy call centre.

A woman with an Asian accent rang me up asking for a colleague’s personal mobile number. She said she’d lost her phone and was waiting at Frankfurt airport for a lift. When I asked for more business details, she claimed it was a private matter and that’s why she needed the private number. I told her I couldn’t share that info and asked how she knew the work number but not the private one if it’s a private trip. Then I pointed out why I was seeing a Brazilian country code on my screen when she said she was calling from Frankfurt, Germany. She hung up right after that :-)

I received a phone call from someone who was rather insistent about speaking to a specific individual, mentioning their role and suggesting they were overseeing a project. The caller portrayed themselves as being in a bit of a tizzy, as they were hurrying to catch a flight, claiming they were currently in Singapore. They struggled with their mobile service, citing issues and used Skype as an excuse for the poor call quality. They introduced themselves as David but couldn't provide a callback number, insisting they wouldn't arrive back in London until the following day when they intended to pick up a local SIM card. The whole thing seemed rather fishy, to be honest, with the endless stream of excuses.

Rang me up yesterday while I was at my workplace, saying they needed to confirm some details about certain colleagues for an email they were preparing - all of whom were based in the Japanese office. The very next day, they tried again, and when I questioned why they were contacting me at such a late hour, they mentioned they were travelling. When I probed further about who they were, they claimed to represent the client side of my company. At that point, I'd had enough, so I did a quick search on the number that popped up on my screen, landed on this site, and wrapped up the call. The caller had a distinct foreign accent, something akin to Indian rather than American, though they spoke English quite well.

They keep asking for coworkers and keep wanting mobile numbers every time. Always got the same excuse: I’ve lost my phone and I’m away on a work trip right now. You can hear that call centre noise in the background clear as day. After waiting ages, I just end up hanging up on them.

Got a call on my work mobile, some person kept pestering me for details to reach a senior office but never properly said who they were. They said they were about to go into a meeting and needed certain phone numbers and info. I went along with it but never shared the real stuff. After a bit, their story switched up saying they were stuck at the airport waiting for a flight. When they saw I wasn’t budging, they just ended the call.

I received a rather peculiar phone call from someone with a foreign accent. They uttered my name correctly and proceeded to inquire whether I was the person they were looking for, followed by the rather unsettling question, "Can you hear me?" It felt like a ploy to coax a "yes" out of me. When I responded with "Speaking," they hung up without hesitation. I'm beginning to suspect they have some of my personal information and are attempting to engage in identity theft by capturing my voice to access any bank services that might rely on voice recognition technology. Quite alarming, really!

I received a rather peculiar phone call from a lady who had quite a pronounced Indian/Pakistani accent. She introduced herself as Sasha and claimed to be calling from Switzerland. She requested to chat with a colleague of mine, but, as luck would have it, they weren’t around. Upon hearing this, she asked if she could speak to someone else from our quality team. When I inquired about the nature of her call, she mentioned she was in the process of updating the International Employee Directory for our old company name, which raised some red flags for me - particularly since we’ve recently rebranded to Company Y and surely anyone involved would be aware of that change. When I pressed her further, she simply stated that she would amend the name in her records. I decided to terminate the call, but she promptly rang back. This time, I didn’t engage and hung up again. Shortly thereafter, she tried once more - this time from an Indian number, 0091 2233 4295 00. Her tone had turned rather aggressive, claiming that I had a responsibility to assist anyone who asked for help and threatening to escalate the matter to my managers. I continued to hang up, and eventually, she seemed to relent. Quite the hassle, I must say!

I had a rather peculiar phone call from a chap named Richard today, who was attempting to solicit information while supposedly grappling with some laptop troubles at an airport in Italy. Upon pointing out his dials were off-Italy uses the 00 39 code, whereas he dialled 00 55, which belongs to Brazil-he seemed to wobble a bit, claiming he was using a payphone instead. It was amusing, really, as he grew rather irate when I suggested we just end the call, as it was clear he was trying to fish for personal details. This isn't the first time he’s reached out; he's made rounds to several of my colleagues, each time positing that he’s stranded at various airports. Honestly, it makes me wonder if Richard somehow possesses a Concorde or perhaps an ability to teleport himself across Europe in no time at all, or if he’s just another dubious con artist trying his luck.

Got a call from a lady asking for mobile numbers, she had some names but didn’t know the actual numbers. Might be one of those scams.

Dodgy character! They were masquerading as a doctor setting up a new clinic (yes, really!) while trying to pry for personal details.

Received a call from this number, with the person on the other end touting themselves as the head of software from some firm. They were after the direct line of one of my colleagues. Naturally, I couldn’t pass on that information due to our office protocols. This apparently threw him into a bit of a tizzy, and he began to go on about how I had the audacity to handle him that way - just a load of nonsense! Ended the call promptly. Shockingly, just two minutes later, the same number rang again, this time with a different story and a different name! Quite the ordeal, I must say.

A rather dubious male rang me up, asserting he was the Head of HR for some firm from Australia, though I couldn't quite catch the name. He mentioned he was currently in Singapore but seemed to be grappling with a dodgy internet connection. In a rather roundabout way, he inquired about obtaining someone’s phone number back in Australia. When I asked for his contact details so that the person could ring him back, he became quite irate at my request-after all, he claimed to be the HR Head. I explained that I couldn’t just hand out that number, and he snapped at me, saying I ought to have been straightforward instead of beating around the bush. Quite the encounter, I must say!

There was a woman who mentioned some names, but she didn’t have any phone numbers?

005563572948 called me claiming to be a sales director, cant quite recall if he mentioned the company name or not. He was asking for info on employees like their names, departments, and even their internal phone numbers. I'd be careful with this one and make sure you find out why he wants that kind of information.

This number 005563572948 kept calling me asking about staff at our firm. The guy was quite impolite, so I just ended the call. After that, he kept ringing back multiple times.

Someone rang me up asking for info about my work. They didn’t know who I was but were aware of the company name. Classic bit of social engineering, if you ask me.

Got a call from someone in Brazil who already knew my name and the company I work for. They said there was a parcel for me to be delivered. I wasn’t expecting anything and thought it was dodgy, so I just hung up.
