Like I said earlier, a bloke with an Indian accent said he was from some nuisance complaint team. He asked if he was talking to "that name" and said the number was wrong. I told him no, then ended the call. He called straight back and my missus picked up, but she hung up on him as well.

My dad gets this same call all the time! They always ask for some Mr ###y, and even when I pick up, I ask which Mr ###y they want. The bloke with an indian accent doesn’t even know the name of the house or flat! It’s clearly a scam. I’ve told them to piss off loads of times but it keeps happening for months now. Tried using BT 1572 to block these annoying calls but it doesn’t work at all. Calls like this should be banned, just like those spam texts from sites you never signed up for!

Got a call from 'Gilbert' on 003097, no one spoke before a weird pause. Said he was from some Call Prevention unit. This is the second time in a week they’ve called me. Last time I didn’t confirm my number and they hung up straight away! Like, they just rang me so how wouldn’t they know it? Today, as soon as I asked who was calling I just ended the call. Did a quick google search and yup, it looks like a total scam.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent asking if I still get nuisance calls. I told him I must do since he managed to get through. He said he was working with the TPS, but I told him that was total rubbish. He got really annoyed, so I just ended the call. Then that cheeky sod rang back, but I just let it go to voicemail.

Received a call from an Indian lady who seemed particularly focused on persuading pensioners to sign up for a call blocking service priced at £29. She was quite persistent and tried to get my card information. Definitely felt like a scam to me!

Today I got a call from someone claiming they were with a call blocking company, saying they were doing some updates. When I asked if they were part of the TPS, they said yes, working on their behalf. They then mentioned my name and asked me to verify it, which I did. Next, they gave my address and asked me to confirm that too (all info that’s easy to find online). Then things got sketchy - they tried to verify me by asking for a type of card and its expiry date. I refused and ended the call right there because something felt off. They also got the card details completely wrong. Sounds like a typical scam to me, so watch out!

When I got back and dialled, it sounded like a travel agency but nobody called Jessica worked there. Using 1471 showed the number as 003097, so it's clearly a fake caller ID.

He asked me to verify my information. I told him TPS never expire and I wasn’t about to share any of my info. He kept trying to persuade me he was legit, but I just ended the call. Watch out for these lot - they’ll try to con you with stories about your computer having viruses and offer to fix it for money.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying there’s some issues with my computer security and then she handed me over to a supervisor. These sorts of calls come through loads, like two to six times every month but from different numbers. This time it was from 003097. If I’m free, I sometimes drag the convo out just to annoy them and waste their time like they’re doing to me. They can get proper annoyed when they realise I’m messing them about. But I feel sorry for older folks who probably get bombarded by these, so I make sure to report those calls when I can.
