I got a call from 01905571005 about an hour back, and the person said they were from Virgin Media warning me about some criminal stuff happening on my internet. They kept going for ages and then said I needed to be at my PC to sort it out. I asked them to confirm my name, and right after that, they just hung up on me. Bit embarrassing for them, as my internet’s working fine and I’ve got solid security in place anyway.

This so-called HMRC officer Jack called me, speaking with a heavy Indian accent, telling me I’d be jailed if I didn’t settle my supposed tax debts right away over the phone. Honestly, they must believe everyone’s an idiot. I can definitely see how some folks might get scared and fall for it. It’s really quite intimidating, no doubt about that.
