001011 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 001011 👆 is reported as a nuisance number linked to scam calls impersonating BT, targeting mainly older adults with false offers to block nuisance calls and provide discounts. Callers often claim to be from BT, provide some accurate personal information, then request sensitive details such as date of birth and bank details. The calls feature foreign-accented individuals and sometimes hostile behaviour if challenged. Many report receiving repeated calls despite being registered with the Telephone Preference Service, with calls often terminating abruptly or going silent. BT’s customer data may have been compromised, enabling scammers to personalise their approach. Users are advised to reject unsolicited calls and never disclose personal or banking information, instead contacting BT directly through official channels if any concerns arise.

Received a call from the number 001011. The caller claimed to be from BT and informed me that I was eligible for a 10% discount on my phone bill. As an older person, they said I would also receive free call monitoring. The caller requested my date of birth and bank details. I explained that I didn't have a bank account, at which point the caller abruptly ended the call. They provided me with the number 0800 150 150 (BT Number) to call back.

I received a call earlier today from someone who claimed to be from BT. She informed me with somewhat promising news, saying, "Good news! We are taking steps to put an end to those annoying nuisance calls." But when I inquired about the specifics of how they planned to do this, she simply replied that a letter would be sent. It's becoming increasingly absurd that we have to scrutinize every phone call from unknown numbers. Shouldn't phone companies tackle this issue right from the beginning?

I had a similar phone call recently. The person on the other end of the line provided an incorrect post code, and I politely informed them of the mistake before ending the call.

I received a call, but the person on the other end remained silent, and when I inquired, they ended the call abruptly.

A call was received by me claiming to be from BT, stating their intention to block my phone from receiving nuisance calls. They proceeded to inquire about the spelling of my first name and the bank associated with my direct debit. I noticed that the person on the call had a striking resemblance to one of your foreign agents.

Someone was looking to speak to me, but I politely informed them that I would prefer to take a message. Shortly after, they ended the call.

A call was received from someone claiming to be from BT, requesting to speak with the account holder regarding positive information about blocking nuisance calls for pensioners. They mentioned that the service would be effective starting today and assured that a confirmation letter would be sent. However, when providing address details, they had incorrect information. When this was pointed out, they asked for the correct address instead. I responded by stating that if they had my name and telephone number, BT should already have my correct address on file. The call abruptly ended after this exchange. I would like to express my gratitude for confirming that this was indeed a scam call.

An individual who identified himself as being from a certain telecommunications provider in the UK asked me for various personal details, including my name, date of birth, postcode, address, and the method I used to make payment for phone calls. Suspicious of their intentions, I provided them with fake banking information.

yet again, it seems I am plagued by another unwanted phone call. Once again, my peace and quiet has been interrupted for what appears to be no legitimate reason. It surely is a distressing occurrence

Being retired doesn't mean I'm foolish or easily fooled. I had an interesting encounter today, which immediately felt suspicious to me. I politely informed the caller that I would rather handle the matter directly through the official BT website. Surprisingly, she sighed in annoyance and promptly ended the call! Throughout the years, I have dealt with numerous attempts of scams through unsolicited phone calls and emails. They often claim to be from well-known and trusted companies like BT, Microsoft, or PayPal, but something always seems off about them.
The only piece of advice I can offer is this: if you didn't request a call, it is wise to reject it.

After recently changing my phone number due to an overwhelming amount of annoying calls, I am disappointed to report that these persistent individuals have somehow managed to find my new number, despite it being ex-directory. Now I find myself flooded with calls from numbers like 001011 and other unidentified sources. There must be some solution to this ongoing issue. It's worth mentioning that I am already registered with the TPS and have an ex-directory number, but I'm at a loss as to how to completely eliminate these bothersome calls. To make matters worse, I am currently unable to work due to sickness, and I am feeling so unwell that I truly wish there was a complete ban on such intrusive cold calls.

Today, when I informed the caller that I was aware of their fraudulent activities, they responded with unintelligible obscenities repeatedly. What a delightful individual.

I have received a second call from this number, and they appear to possess a considerable amount of my personal information. It is likely that they are obtaining this information through BT.

Yesterday, I received a telephone call from a man who had an Indian accent. He claimed to be calling from BT and had some pleasant news to share - that BT could put an end to nuisance calls targeting elderly individuals. However, before sending out the letter he mentioned, he insisted on gathering some personal details from me. This immediately raised my suspicion that it might be a scam. I firmly refused to provide him with any information and insisted that they should simply send me the letter as promised. Rather shockingly, he responded by hurling offensive insults at me before abruptly ending the call. It left me feeling quite unsettled. Today, I unfortunately received another call from the same individual. He began with his familiar spiel, but this time I promptly informed him that I was not interested and hung up the phone.

I recently received a phone call from this particular number. Since I'm typically not at home during this time, I had a feeling it might be an unwanted call. Therefore, I decided to wait for the caller to identify themselves before picking up the call. However, after around 10 seconds of silence, the call abruptly ended. Despite being registered with TPS and using BT Call protect, it seems there is very little that can be accomplished to prevent these individuals from disrupting my day.

Today, I received a phone call from a number. A woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from British Telecom contacted me. She explained that BT was attempting to put an end to nuisance calls for the elderly after receiving complaints. The woman provided me with the phone number 0800 150150, asking me to contact it if I ever received a nuisance call. Furthermore, she mentioned that BT would send a letter confirming this, but she needed to verify my information first. Suspiciously, she already knew my name and postal code and requested my date of birth. When I refused to provide the information, she commented that I make payments by direct debit on the 7th and insisted on confirming my bank's name. Sensing something was amiss, I declined to give her any details and she abruptly hung up. The caller's number appeared as "International" on my phone's display.

It is common knowledge that BT had outsourced a significant portion of their telephone support services to India. Unfortunately, during this process, there were some cases reported where customer data belonging to BT was stolen, possibly as a result of inside jobs. It is worth noting that BT landline customers are often considered to be older individuals, which holds true in many cases. Due to these circumstances, we are now witnessing the repercussions in the form of Indian scammers targeting BT customers. It is no surprise that BT is now implementing call-blocking features and introducing specialized phones as a means to address this issue. Interestingly, it can be argued that BT's own business practices indirectly contributed to this problem.

I ignore calls that appear on my caller display as "001011 International" because they're not familiar to me. The answering machine usually takes over, but strangely, the caller never bothers leaving a message. Oddly enough, numbers with the prefix "001011" persistently call me multiple times throughout the day.

I received a call from an individual claiming to be from BT, who said that he would put an end to the annoying unsolicited phone calls I had been receiving (oh, the irony!). He instructed me to call 0800 150 150 and even knew my name and postcode. However, when he began asking for my date of birth, I promptly informed him that it was unnecessary information and he abruptly ended the call. Although I am already registered on the call preference service, I am unable to "reboot" it since I am already registered. It is incredibly frustrating to receive countless scam calls on a daily basis.

I received a call on 4th July at 16:30 from a number displaying 001011, and the person on the other line had a foreign sounding accent, possibly Indian. He claimed to be calling from BT and stated that my nuisance calls would be blocked in the future. When I asked about the cost, he assured me that it was free. However, I had doubts about whether this call was genuinely from BT. It seemed likely that he would eventually ask for my bank details, so I decided to end the conversation by politely stating that I didn't believe the call was from BT and then hanging up.
