001011 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 001011 👆 is reported as a nuisance number linked to scam calls impersonating BT, targeting mainly older adults with false offers to block nuisance calls and provide discounts. Callers often claim to be from BT, provide some accurate personal information, then request sensitive details such as date of birth and bank details. The calls feature foreign-accented individuals and sometimes hostile behaviour if challenged. Many report receiving repeated calls despite being registered with the Telephone Preference Service, with calls often terminating abruptly or going silent. BT’s customer data may have been compromised, enabling scammers to personalise their approach. Users are advised to reject unsolicited calls and never disclose personal or banking information, instead contacting BT directly through official channels if any concerns arise.

Got a call from 001011, the person said they were from BT and that I could get a 10% cut on my phone bill. They also mentioned something about free call monitoring for seniors. They asked for my birthday and bank info but I told them I don't have a bank account. After that, the caller gave me an 0800 150 150 number to ring back (says it's BT) and then hung up.

Got a call from someone claiming they were with BT earlier. They said, "Good news, we're putting an end to all those annoying calls..." I asked what the plan was and they said they'd be sending a letter about it. Honestly, it's daft having to question every single caller these days. Can't the phone companies just fix this problem themselves right from the start?

Got a call kinda like this once. The lady gave me a postcode that didn't match, so I told her it was wrong and just ended the call.

I rang, but when I tried to ask who it was, they just ended the call without saying a word.

Somebody rang claiming they were from BT, saying they were stopping nuisance calls from reaching me. They asked me to spell my first name and what bank I use for my direct debit. The woman on the phone sounded just like one of those overseas agents.

Someone called asking for me, I told them I could take a message but then they hung up.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with BT, saying they had some great news about a new service to block nuisance calls aimed at pensioners. She said it started from today and that a letter would be sent out to confirm everything. She gave me an address but it was wrong. When I pointed that out and asked why, she wanted me to give her the right details. I told her that if she had my number and name, BT would already know my correct address. Then she just hung up. Cheers for confirming this is definitely a scam.

Some bloke rang me saying he was from BY and talked about stopping calls. He asked for my name, date of birth, postcode, and even where I send payments by direct debit. I wasn’t going to give the real info, so I just made up a fake bank and gave him that instead.

Got yet another annoying call from some random number.

Being retired doesn’t mean I'm daft, right? Got a call today that just felt off straight away. I told the person on the line I'd rather sort things out straight from the official BT website. She let out a sigh and then just hung up on me! Loads of scam calls and emails come through, pretending to be from places like BT, Microsoft, PayPal - always something dodgy about them. My best advice? If you didn't ask for the call, just don’t pick up. Simple as that.

Got a call I really wasn’t expecting on the 7th of October, bit annoying really.

I switched my phone number not long ago since I was bombarded with annoying calls. Even though I made sure it was ex-directory, these irritating callers have somehow found me again. Lately, my phone’s been lighting up with calls from 001011 and loads of UNKNOWN numbers. It’s really frustrating! I’ve signed up for the TPS and kept my number off the public list, so how do these calls keep coming through? I'm currently off sick from work feeling rough, and honestly, I wish there was a total ban on cold calls. It’s just exhausting dealing with this nonstop.

Got a call today and as soon as I said I was onto his scam, the bloke just started shouting “f***, you p***k” nonstop. Quite the lovely character, that one.

This number has rung me twice now, and they seem to know quite a bit about me. Feels like they must be pulling info from BT or somewhere similar.

So, this number called me yesterday, and a man with an Indian accent claimed to be from BT. He said they'd help stop annoying calls aimed at older folks and mentioned they'd send me a letter. But first, he wanted some personal info. It didn’t sit right with me, so I told him no way was I giving out details and to just send the letter if that's what they were doing. That’s when he called me names and hung up on me, which left me feeling pretty upset. Then, today, he called again starting the same rubbish but I just told him I wasn’t interested and ended the call quickly.

Got a call from this number earlier. Since I’m rarely home at that hour, I figured it might be one of those nuisance calls so I held on for the person to say who they were. After a good 10 seconds with no word, the call just dropped. I’m signed up with TPS and have BT Call Protect enabled, but it feels like these annoying calls just keep getting through no matter what.

Today I got a phone call from this number. A lady with an Indian accent said she was calling from British Telecom. She mentioned something about them trying to protect elderly folks from nuisance calls, and said if I got any I should ring 0800 150150. She added that BT would send me a letter to confirm it all. Then she started asking for my details, like my date of birth, even though she already knew my name and postcode. When I didn’t want to give more info, she claimed I pay by direct debit on the 7th and wanted my bank name. I refused to share anything else and she just hung up. The number showed up as international on my phone.

So, BT moved a lot of their phone help over to India, right? There’s been talk about some kind of BT customer info getting nicked there, probably by someone on the inside. And sure, most people with BT landlines tend to be older folks - that’s fair enough. But now, because of all this, we’ve got these scammers from India ringing up. It kinda makes sense why BT’s now pushing call-blocking options and special phones for their customers. Honestly, their own choices seem to have helped create this mess!

My phone keeps ringing from 001011 International and I just don’t pick up. It goes to voicemail, but there’s never any message left. I get calls from that number multiple times daily, which is pretty annoying.

Got a ring from a guy with an Indian accent claiming he was calling from BT and said he could block all the spam calls I keep getting (bit rich, really!). He asked me to call 0800 150 150 and even mentioned my name and postcode which was a bit creepy. When he asked for my date of birth, I said there was no need, and he immediately ended the call. I’m already signed up to the call preference service but apparently can’t “refresh” it since I’m already on there. It’s so frustrating dealing with the endless scam calls every day.

At around half four on the 4th of July, I got a call from 001011. The voice on the other end sounded foreign, maybe Indian, claiming to be from BT. He mentioned something about blocking nuisance calls for me in the future. When I asked if it would cost anything, he assured me it was free. Honestly, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t really BT ringing me. I figured he’d try to get my bank details eventually, so I just told him I didn’t believe the call was legit and ended the call there.
