Just realised ive been paying around £30 to £40 a month for texts that never actually came through. Rang 02 and they explained the charges and gave me a number to cancel it, plus a landline and website to contact them. I've already sent them an email, now just waiting to see how long it takes for them to get back to me. Fingers crossed it wont be long!

I emailed them asking for a refund of the £99+ I’d accidentally been charged, attaching my phone bills with the relevant charges circled, just like the Phone Pay Authority suggested. They said they’d text me a reference number within two weeks which I could then take to a local Post Office for the refund. Apparently, this reference only lasts 30 days. I stopped using the problem number ages ago and there’s no way I’m handing over my new one. The whole Post Office thing feels dodgy. When I tried replying to their message, it bounced back as undeliverable. Proper awful folks!

86668 has been billing me £19.50 every month since May. It's an absolute rip-off. I'm gonna do whatever I can to recover my cash.

86668 I checked my phone bill and saw 5 separate fees of £4.50. It’s total rubbish because I swear I never agreed to any of this. Really annoyed about these dodgy charges.

Complete scam!! I’ve never taken part in any contest, nor got any texts about it!! If Vodafone don’t give me back the £4.50 charged for these entries, I’m cancelling my £2000-a-year contract. This all kicked off the same day I got my new phone from Vodafone. I reckon there might be some dodgy software already installed on the handset. I’m with Vodafone, I’m their customer!! I told them someone is ripping money off my account through Vodafone’s system, but they say there’s nothing they can do!! Utter rubbish!!

This month they took £26 from my account for texts from numbers beginning with 82772 and 85080. I never signed up for any of these or joined any contest.

Just noticed a charge of nearly £4 from this scam on 3rd June. Haven't received anything since, so I’m guessing I sent STOP like others recommended (fingers crossed!). I suppose I’m fortunate compared to those who’ve lost a lot more. I also decided to add the number 86668 to my iPhone’s blocked contacts. Pretty sure Android phones have the same blocking option. This should stop any calls, texts or FaceTime from that number. Would advise everyone else to do likewise.

Total rip off. Keep getting random premium texts charging me £4.50 each time, every few days. Watch out for these guys!

I cant recall ever reaching out to this firm. How do you put a stop to them charging you? Ive tried texting Stop to 86668 but it just wont go through. This is the only number Ive got.

I honestly believed I was signing up for a Sainsburys contest, not some dodgy scam that gets you signed up for fake competitions costing £4.50 a week. I cancelled it right away, but who knows how much they've charged me for all those texts. This lot really ought to be closed down.

Really annoyed with Morrison's for pushing people to spin their wheel of fortune and if you “win,” you end up having to press a button that signs you up for this Cool4mob competition. On closer look, it actually costs £4.50 a week! Be careful folks!

This lot is proper scammers and no network seems bothered to help. O2 told me to text 'stop' back to them and then call 02072932220. But honestly, you won’t see a penny refunded. The only way to make sure they dont nick any more dosh is to change your number straight away, which I had to do myself.

I just rang this number and managed to speak to someone who said I’d signed up for a Boots card competition and that they've been taking £3.75 every week since 1st of July for messages. When I said I never signed up, the bloke got really angry and rude, so I ended the call. How on earth do they get hold of our phone numbers?

i was being billed £4.50 every week for a few weeks without my permission, looked up the number on phonepayplus site and it’s some ‘cool4mob’ quiz subscription i never signed up for! rang vodafone and they sorted it by blocking texts to premium numbers for me. didnt wanna ring ‘cool4mob’ in case they tried to scam me on the call so i reported them via phonepayplus as vodafone suggested. not holding my breath but at least i did something, though i doubt ‘cool4mob’ care much.

I usually don't bother looking at my phone bill, but the other day I saw a massive jump from what I usually pay. Took a proper look and realised I'd been hit with over £50 for premium services I never signed up for. I called O2, they said they'll sort a dispute but I’ve not had any update since. When I tried calling O2 again, they said I need to contact this mystery company myself. Can someone advise what I should do next? This is such a pain and I’d rather have that money for other things. Is there anywhere official to report these scams?

This company really should be closed down! I got scammed for £70 and didn’t even notice until I went through my phone bills from the past two months. I contacted them directly and they were unbelievably rude! They told me to email their finance team, which I did, and since August they keep promising a refund that still hasn’t come. I keep calling different people trying to fix this and no progress at all! Makes me wonder how many more people they've done this to. It’s a complete joke.

I got stuck in this scam back in July and August. No idea how it all began or what I was meant to be getting for the cash they took. I reached out to O2 and found out the 86668 number is linked to R + D Media, the folks behind cool4mobs, which looks like some kind of competition site. I sent STOP texts and emailed the company, so fingers crossed it’s all sorted now. If you usually have big phone bills, you might not even notice you're being ripped off.

86668 said they are taking £4.50 from my bank every month without asking me first, which feels like pure theft. I’ve texted them to stop but no clue how much this is gonna end up costing me. I never signed up for any of this. Where on earth are these scammers getting my number from?

Just discovered today that I've been billed £15 over the past month. Orange said they can't deal with third party texts and can’t prevent them from charging me. The company is called "Cool4Mob", and I’ve never had any contact from them before. Orange gave me the number 02033181627 to get in touch, but after being on hold for 30 minutes, no one answered! They also said blocking the number won’t stop the charges. If that’s how it is, goodbye Orange, I’ll be switching my number and provider. PBQ

I've also been getting these calls every week. They charged me £4.50 and my provider, Talk Talk, emailed me saying my mobile would get cut off as I went over my limit. I told them I didn’t even know about this since I pay by DD. I told Talk Talk it seemed like a scam and asked them to stop it straight away, that was a month back. Now Talk Talk rang me saying they can’t control third party charges and told me to reach out to Phone Payplus. I did that today online and now I’m just waiting to hear back from them.

Same thing happened to me, I only caught it when looking over my phone bill. There was a message saying I’d signed up for Cool4mob, some sort of prize quiz, but I never actually joined. They charged me £4.50 a week unless I replied with STOP. I quickly sent STOP back, which cost me a bit too, about 8p. Haven't heard a word from them after that...

Got stung for £3.75 just to get this text, proper rip off. Tried calling them to sort a refund but was told to email, and that email just bounces back like it doesn’t exist. Feels like a total scam. Contacted my network, O2, and they’ve blocked any more charges from this. Still fuming, looks like I’m stuck paying for it this time.

Got three texts from 86668 and each one cost me £3.75, only spotted it when my phone bill showed up. O2 told me it was a 0203 number but when I rang back, no-one picked up even after waiting 45 minutes in some supposed queue. Honestly, these scammers need to be taken to court and the phone companies should really do more to block them instead of just making excuses.
