They never said anything about the fee, but you gotta do that track and trace thing before you can even get into the pub. Feels a bit dodgy if you ask me.

Got a Track & Trace text when I visited The Ship pub in Mortlake, which is run by Greene King. I assumed it wouldn’t cost anything but ended up getting charged! Not happy about that.

Red Lion pub over in Billericay Essex had us sending a text to this number to get in coz of Covid, I think. They never mentioned we’d get charged for it!! Just a heads up, be careful.

This number is often used by pubs for track and trace. They said it’s free but ended up getting charged a premium rate for the text by the provider. Better to steer clear if you can.

This number is apparently used by some pubs for Track & Trace, but no one mentions it’s a premium number and you get charged. Really puts me off. Why can’t they just stick to a regular phone number with their name? Won’t be using any pub that goes down this route.

Following the comment from 13/08/2020, this is indeed a legit number connected to the UK government’s Track & Trace programme. When I went to the Old Rooms Inn in Weymouth, they asked me to leave my name and phone number. Bit frustrating really, coz they said it wouldn’t cost anything to use this service, but I still got billed (just 45p) since 86025 is treated as a premium rate number by my mobile provider.

This number popped up when I went to The Red Lion in Grantchester for lunch. They had me send a text with my name and number for some Covid tracking thing. Looks like it’s part of a customer info collection scheme.

Fell for this scam myself. Thought it was RBS checking if I wanted to keep getting paper bank statements. Guess I was fortunate it only cost me a tiny £0.10 payment.

Got a text supposedly from National West asking if I wanted paper statements every quarter. The number was 86025. I just ignored the message and didn’t reply.

Natwest asked me to respond to this number to choose between monthly or quarterly statements. It felt really fishy since you have to pay to reply, and they want you to reply to this number, not the one the original text came from. Seems dodgy to me.

Got a text claiming to be from RBS asking me to respond to another message to confirm if I wanted my quarterly statements posted using number 86025, but I don’t even have an account with RBS.

Got a text saying it was from NatWest, said it was free to call back. Rang them up, but my phone warned me it could cost money, so nah, they can wait a bit lol.

Oops, I replied and then saw on my bill I got charged 10p. Like others mentioned, it seemed to be from NatWest about bank statements. I’ll definitely be more careful next time!

Got a text saying it's from NatWest. The next message showed 86025 as the number. They were asking me about some quarterly billing documents. Didn't bother replying because there was no security info in the text.

I’m on the NatWest text alert service and after getting my usual Monday balance update, I then got a message saying: Because of new rules, you need to confirm if you want to keep getting paper statements every three months for the account ending in XXXX1191. Please reply to the next text from 86025. The thing is, I don’t even have an account ending in 1191! I just ignored it and seeing the comments here saying it might be a scam cos of charges, I won’t be replying either!

I received a text from NATWEST sms 8602 stating that if I want to keep getting paper statements every 3 months, I need to reply YES by 22 June 2018. If I reply NO, they'll switch to sending monthly statements from August 2018. They also mentioned that normal text charges apply.

just like a few others here, i got a message at first that looked like it was from my bank (ros), joining a bunch of genuine texts from rbs. then about ten mins later i got a text from 86025 and when i replied, vodafone warned me it was a premium rate message.

Dodgy! Got a text pretending to be my bank, then they said to reply but it was a premium number. Watch out!

I got a text from Natwest telling me to reply to that number. I did, but then got really worried when it said I’d be charged (it all went so fast). So I went down to the bank, but the staff weren’t much help. They said the message was from their automated system but had nothing to do with the branch and told me to ring the head office number on my debit card. I did that and they said everything was fine. The text cost 0.08p on my phone bill, so after all the fuss, it seems alright really.

Got a message asking me to reply for some statements, had a look at the comments and thought it was a scam so I deleted it. Then I saw a text from Natwest about an hour earlier saying I'd be getting a message and to reply.

this same number sent me a text asking if i wanted to keep getting my statements. before that, my bank had sent me a msg warning me that this text would come through. i hit reply, then my phone warned me about potential charges if i went on. luckily i double checked and stopped the reply! looking back at both texts, there was definitely something off about them.

I just rang my bank and they said they never sent that text, it's definitely a scam.

Got a message asking me to reply yes if I want to keep getting quarterly statements (what statements even?). Cheers to this site though, good to know it’s a scam.

it's a total scam, dont bother answering.

they claimed it was my bank checking if i wanted to keep getting those quarterly statements. i'd say its a scam and best not to respond no matter who they say they are. im marking this as suspicious for sure!
