2 yearsEvery day I get texts from BOTB, that car lottery site, asking me to join their daily draw. Thing is, I’m not interested in these at all. Each message ends with instructions to Opt Out by texting ENDTXT to 85558. The number 85558 is in blue and underlined, so it looks like a clickable link to stop the messages. But when I tap it, a recorded voice says, “The number you have dialled is not recognised. Please try again.” No cash lost so far, but it feels like a nuisance and kinda sketchy, like it could lead to a money trap.BOTB5 yearsSo, 85558 is actually from this company called bongo, which runs a site or app where you can ask questions. Basically, it’s like paying for stuff you could find on Google without any charge. They send replies by text, but it costs a steep £2.50 a pop.
