I got a message saying my computer was gonna be shut down and disabled. So I phoned them and the woman there asked me for a code, which I gave her. She then told me to open the RUN app, but before I did, I had a funny feeling and just hung up. After that, I looked up the number on Google and found this site. I also ended up changing my WiFi password just in case.

My screen suddenly showed it.

Ugh, this just happened to me too! The message sounded soooo convincing and like it needed immediate action. I got scared about my computer being "disabled" and ended up falling for it, which was a terrible idea. They actually got access to my PC. When I told the woman I wasn’t going to pay anything, she was super rude and unhelpful. I even asked if she had any advice on what I should do next, but all she said was to pay up for their software or whatever it was. I really should’ve searched the number online beforehand like you clever people did. Does anyone know what risks there are now that they’ve been inside my computer? I don’t really understand how all this works. At the moment, I’ve just turned my computer off. But can they now get into all my other devices that are on the same wifi? Any help would be amazing!

Got caught out just like this the other day, felt so daft! An error alert showed up, and after hesitating, I rang the number. I asked for proof they were from Microsoft, and then stupidly let them get onto my computer! Can't believe I let that happen, I should've known better, but they were really slick about it. I looked up the number afterwards and found stuff like this, so I quickly hung up and switched off my PC. The bloke with the Indian accent rang back twice, and on the second call I told him straight to stop calling and to get off my computer because it's a scam! He shouted back, saying I was the one who called him and asked how old I was for hanging up on him! Honestly, what?! It's terrifying he managed to get into my computer. Has anyone else noticed any problems or identity issues after falling for this?

I got a scary message flashing on my screen with a voice yelling not to switch anything off, then it told me to ring a number straight away. So I did. Kevin was the one who answered, but Steven was out for his lunch break. Kevin started looking at my computer remotely. He said everything seemed alright, but claimed someone from overseas was trying to hack me. Then he passed me on to Jeff, who said he could fix it for $280. At that point, I thought I’d hold off and ask my regular computer guy first. Have they done anything? Not sure. Steven’s checking my computer tomorrow to sort it out.

Oh my gosh, I’ve just been totally tricked by this number! I was sure something was wrong with my laptop, so I rang them up. The guy got onto my screen and told me what was wrong, saying it’d cost me £199.99 to fix. He said they don’t accept cards because of identity theft risks, so I’d have to send a cheque. I told him I didn’t have one on me and would need to visit the bank to get one. He said he’d stay on the phone while I got it. I told him that would take me ages, and then he asked for my account and sort code. I said no way. Then he said if I paid for the ‘clean up’ today, I could supposedly get a full refund within 20 days whether it worked or not. I mentioned I needed to check with my husband first, but he pushed me to call him at work - I refused. Suddenly his tone went all weird. Now my laptop’s acting up even worse - it’s asking for a startup password which it never did before. Can someone please help me out?

My brand new HP laptop just showed me this message out of nowhere. I had to quickly turn it off and start it up again.

My computer popped up a warning saying it had a trojan virus and to call for assistance. I dialled the number, and a guy with an Indian accent introduced himself as Shane Tyler from Microsoft, saying he was based in Washington. He said he’d got into my computer already and was opening programmes. I told him to stop straight away, but he said he was just trying to fix things. When I asked exactly how he was going to help, he was very vague and avoided the question. I ended up hanging up, deleted all the suspicious files, and shut off my PC.

I want to warn everyone about this phone number. I got a message saying my computer was locked, so I called the number they gave. The guy on the other end took control of my computer and started installing software. At first, I thought it was some kind of joke and didn't believe him. When I asked him to disconnect from my machine, he argued with me. Whenever I tried to stop the program using task manager, he'd move my mouse to stop me. The only way I managed was by putting my laptop in airplane mode, disconnecting Wi-Fi, and rebooting. After that, I found around seven apps he had put on my computer, all with shortcuts, which I removed. A message suddenly popped up on my screen saying my computer might be infected and insisted I call a number for a detailed fix, warning that my PC wouldn't work otherwise. I rang the number and followed their instructions until they asked for my credit card details. I put the call on hold and looked up the number online, checking three different websites - all of them flagged it as a scam. I then shut down my computer and restarted it. The browser worked fine after that. I cleared all my browsing history and cookies just to be safe. When I phoned the person back to say I wasn’t interested and suspected a scam, he replied, “Scammers call folks, you called me.” The guy’s name was Steve, by the way. Thought this might warn others too.

Beware of this number, its a SCAM and could try to hack your computer. Please watch out and dont trust it.

Beware of this number - it’s definitely a scam. They claim to be some kind of online support but really just want you to give them control of your computer. They say they’ll help fix issues caused by a trojan, but it’s all a trick to get access to your info or push dodgy software on you. Don’t follow their advice or let them guide you through fixing your PC, it’s just a setup to cause more trouble.

My laptop popped up a message saying it’s been locked and I have to ring this number to get help removing a virus. They warned me that if I don’t do it, my credit card info could end up with hackers. Apparently, Microsoft will block access unless I follow their instructions. Feels dodgy to me.
