I just wanted to share a rather alarming experience that took place with an elderly relative's computer. She encountered a bogus "tech support" number that flashed up on her screen. It was supposedly from a fake "Windows Defender" alert, which caused her computer to freeze and tried to hijack her internet browsing altogether. This malware somehow slipped through the crack and got downloaded, and now we’re on a mission to clean up the mess it made. I thought it’d be wise to give a heads-up to anyone out there. This incident was discovered on January 1, 2018. Cheers!
