My nan got hit by this bogus "tech support" phone number flashing on her PC screen. It came up as a fake "Windows Defender" alert, locking her computer and trying to send all her web searches to some dodgy site. She accidentally installed the malware without realising. We're stuck trying to sort her computer out now. Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up. This showed up on her PC back in January 2018. Cheers.
