That number has been bothering me too, leaving messages for my solicitor asking him to reach Peter Howerluck about some kind of mandate against me. I keep getting calls about some credit card I’ve never even had. They keep threatening me, saying if I don’t pay they'll get their lawyer, some guy named Peter Harroluck or something like that (can’t quite remember the spelling). I’ve asked them a bunch of times to send me any paperwork or proof they claim to have, but they just ignore me completely. They go on about three credit bureaus in Canada, but when I checked with Equifax and TransUnion, they said there’s only two. None of them have any record of this supposed debt. They keep pushing that they’ll take me to court, but none of the emails I’ve sent asking to see details of this “third bureau” ever get answered. They refuse to provide anything at all. They claimed that number was linked to someone in their records and that it belonged to that person once upon a time before it came to me. These guys are called National Credit Recovery Inc. and honestly, they don’t have a legit website or anything, which makes me think it’s just a scam. What they do is buy up old debts that are way past their statute of limitations. Then they try to get you to reply, so the clock resets and they can go after you again. This number keeps ringing me with so-called official calls. Back in Feb 2016, they managed to scam me out of $600. I didn't figure out it was a con until about six months down the line. Straight away I went to my bank, explained the whole thing, and did everything they told me to. Thankfully, the bank gave me my $600 back. Now, whenever they call, I just reply with a text. These scam artists are nothing but fraudsters!

So, years ago - like back in 2007 - the cable company somehow got my name mixed up when they set up service for my neighbour’s flat, but they never actually checked my ID. Naturally, I refused to pay for something that wasn’t mine. Now, this number keeps ringing me and leaving loads of messages, the usual stuff you hear - “legal action”, “lawyers involved”, all that jazz. Thing is, that cable company’s long gone, doesn’t even exist anymore. Heads up though: if you get in touch with these people by phone, letter, or face-to-face, you might accidentally reset the time limit on how long they have to chase you for the debt - something called “reaging” or similar. So if you’re past the legal time limit on a debt, it’s better just to ignore them and not respond at all.

Turns out she owes a ridiculous amount of money to loads of places, and her case just keeps getting passed around between agencies trying to chase her debts. The funny part is, the phone company that gave me this number was linked to one of her creditors. These new guys seem like the worst so far, relying on info that must be ancient, like at least three years old. Honestly, they don't seem to have a clue what they're doing. I managed to find the woman on Facebook in a flash, and her profile even mentioned her job at that time.
