Got a call from a number I didn’t recognise a couple of times today. As soon as I picked up, they just dropped the phone. Then I got another call, this time with some robotic silence, definitely felt like a dodgy scam trying to sell something.

You’d expect the police to have stepped in or at least the phone company to have cut off these annoying calls by now. Seriously, where is the law when you actually need it? And deleting these voicemails is a nightmare - can’t just delete the call, have to listen to the message and erase it before getting rid of the call log. They come through masked as 1-778-581-4001, and weirdly this is the only number that actually bypasses my call blockers so far.

I've been getting nonstop calls from 1-844-610-3970, 1-844-606-1332, and 1-844-677-6643, all threatening serious trouble for some person I've never met who apparently shares the same name each time. They keep insisting that this individual needs to have their lawyer get in touch right away. Sometimes they mention an address, 6285 Northam Drive Mississauga ON L4V 1X5, which turns out to be where National Credit Recovery (a debt collection firm) is based. I’ve blocked these numbers now, but they still leave messages about urgent documents supposedly sent. It’s funny because I’m clearly not the only one being bothered like this. If it was just me, I’d think someone must have given a wrong phone number by mistake. But since loads of others are getting the same calls and voicemails, it definitely feels like a coordinated scam - just spam through voicemail.

I called back and got a woman named Melinda on the line. She kept asking for my personal details, but I didn’t feel comfortable sharing anything since I didn’t know the company. When I refused, she just ended the call. Seriously, who operates a business that way?

Got a message earlier today, 9th Feb, from someone claiming to be the CRA. Don't pick up, it’s all a scam!

Some twat rang me in the middle of a test. I answered, asking who the hell they were, and they sounded all confused like “excuse me?” Honestly, no way he was working for any proper company - nobody gets that rude dealing with clients, especially not the bloody IRS! Told him I was in the middle of a test, and he just goes, “Well how was I meant to know that?” If you’re gonna try and scam someone, at least make it believable! So frustrating!
