This has all the signs of a dodgy scam aimed at stealing personal info. I get calls from them nearly every day, and the voicemails they leave are really suspicious and weird. They never say who they are working for or even their own company name. Once, I tried calling back and they wanted me to verify my address before they’d even talk about any supposed account. Why on earth would I share my address with a complete stranger? If they had my number, surely they’d already have that info. I’ve never signed anything or owed anyone money, and my credit score is actually quite good, over 800. They ring you up clearly trying to fish for details... it really feels like an identity theft attempt. Also, I’m quite skeptical about the first comment here saying it’s legit. Feels like it might be written by someone from the company just to make themselves look trustworthy.

This was a genuine call. I kept getting calls daily but whenever I picked up, no one spoke. After about two months of getting annoyed, I rang them back just to say, "If you’re gonna ring me that much, at least leave a voicemail or answer when I pick up." I ended up having a bit of a disagreement with a bloke named Devon who insisted it wasn’t a scam, saying I didn’t owe anything, no warrants, all sorts of stuff. As he gave what seemed like sensible answers to my questions, I finally told him some personal details so he could show me what I actually owed. Turns out, I’d missed a bill they sent in the post for an ambulance trip I had taken. They weren’t asking for money straight from me either - said I could pay at any UHN service point or online, and even offered to sort it over the phone. This definitely isn’t a scam! I honestly feel sorry for the people who have to take these calls, cos I bet they get told they’re scammers all the time, when really, they are not!

Been looking into the Consumer Protection rules and from what I understand, if you keep getting calls from a number like this, you can ask them to stop calling and just send you the details through the post instead. If they ignore that, you’re allowed to report them.

I tried ringing the number back and it kept playing the same message about an unpaid debt. A woman called herself Sandy Lane from National Credit Recovery Inc. She asked for my date of birth and even said my full name, but I refused to give any details. I told her outright I don’t owe anything. She then said maybe there’s a bill I overlooked. Quite funny, really.

The thing that annoys me the most is that they never tell you who they are or what company they're from... I even tried ringing them back from a payphone just to see what would happen and ended up stuck on hold forever. I've blocked the number but somehow they keep getting through after a couple of weeks. Honestly, this number actually turned out to be legit for me. For three Wednesdays straight, I'd get the same messages even though no one was home at those times. At first, I thought it was a scam since I'd read so many similar stories online. I decided to ring them back today and they claimed my partner owed £45 to Humber River Hospital from way back in 2014. We don’t even live nearby, so I was pretty doubtful. Still, I called the hospital myself just to check and to my surprise, it was true. I sorted out the payment and I’m glad I did. Then I phoned them again to apologise and gave the confirmation number so they could close our case. Done and dusted.

This number keeps ringing me & leaving voicemails about some “urgent mail issue” or something like that. Tried calling back once and all they did was threaten me, which was quite scary. I blocked the number straight away. I even spoke with the police - they advised me to keep blocking it and if I do pick up just to warn them that any more calls will be treated as harassment and reported. It’s really frustrating! They’re blocked now, but I wish there was a way to stop the voicemails too. Anyone know how to do that?

I asked where she got my number from and she claimed my friend gave it to her as a contact. She was asking stuff about my friend but I didn’t give her any details. I got a call at work from someone claiming I owed money on an account. When I asked who they were, I told them my name but mentioned I hadn’t heard of their company before.
