I've received a call just like the one that anonymous mentioned. I rang up the number they provided, shared the so-called "claim number" with the answering machine, and made it clear that it sounded dodgy to me. I also suggested they should trace it back to whoever it was.

Had a rather unsettling phone call from an individual named Angelina Thomas, though she didn’t mention which firm she’s affiliated with. The number she called from was unavailable, which raised my eyebrows right away. She claimed to have documentation containing my name and social security number, asserting that I'm on her list to receive a certified notice of intent regarding a claim that’s apparently in the pipeline. She provided the number I’m sharing here, instructing me to call to sort things out. Mentioned she could show up at my residence or my workplace as well. No further details were offered, which only added to the unease.
