80870 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 80870 👆 is reported as a frequently used NHS survey number contacting patients after hospital visits to gather feedback. While many confirm it is genuine, free to reply, and sent by NHS trusts via contracted companies, others highlight concerns over potential premium SMS charges despite assurances of no cost. Numerous users report receiving messages despite no NHS visits, raising suspicions of data leaks or number recycling. The number triggers charge warnings on phones, leading to distrust and blocking. Reports of scams mimicking the service exist, with some users incurring unexpected fees and questioning data security. Overall, it appears to be a legitimate but imperfect NHS feedback system complicated by telecom billing issues and occasional misuse, suggesting caution before responding and verifying through official NHS channels.

I got a text looking like a hospital stay survey but wasn’t really sure it was legit. As soon as I clicked the link, my phone flagged it as spam right away. Other NHS surveys I've done didn’t set off any alarms. I ended up blocking the number and reporting it just to be safe.

Just to let you know, even tho it might say you'll be charged for calling back the NHS, it's actually free of charge. Don't worry about any costs if you ring them again.

I got a call from this number asking for some feedback and told me it was free of charge, but later I found a 90p fee on my phone bill. Since then, I've blocked the number so they can’t reach me anymore.

Got a call asking for NHS feedback, no charge to reply. I looked up the number and saw some sites flagged it, but don't just trust those phone checker pages. Honestly, the workers are fantastic but really feeling the pressure. The big issue goes way back - years of governments not properly funding it have wrecked what used to be top-notch healthcare here.

This number really does belong to the NHS, they use it to collect feedback. I answered and it didn’t cost me a penny, still here fine! Honestly, folks, be careful sure, but don’t forget to think it through!

I'm a bit confused. I pressed 2 to confirm all was well, but they still asked for extra details. This definitely seems like something that needs fixing. Actually, I did have a great appointment just yesterday.

Got a message from 80870 the other day. It just gives a little heads-up and then you have to tap on it to see the rest. If this was really from the NHS, they should just show the full message in the first place, right? Feels sketchy, like a scam. They mention some ‘free reply’ but it’s not actually free, you end up getting charged. Honestly, these kinds of texts need to be banned.

Many official hospital websites list this as the number they use for collecting feedback. I was not charged when I replied to the message.

I've seen this number mentioned on several hospital sites as the one they use for getting feedback. When I responded to their message, I didn't get any charges at all.

I got a text about giving my thoughts on a recent hospital visit, but I wasn’t sure if it was legit or some sort of scam, so I just ignored it. It didn’t say anywhere if there’d be any charges, which left me confused.

This was very real. I ended up there after 111 advised me to go straight to A&E. The form I tried to fill online wouldn’t let me move forward since the tick box wasn’t valid for people who just turned up at A&E following 111’s instructions (my GP couldn’t see me and told me to ring 111 when I called right at 8am). The A&E itself was a complete mess, like a disaster zone without the actual debris. The staff were visibly frazzled. I was stuck waiting for about 12 hours in a crowded space, along with a bunch of others, getting treated in a big open area.

About a week after I'd been to A&E, I got a text from this phone number. I checked it out online and saw that the NHS actually uses this number to send out survey requests.

This number is legit. It’s used by NHS bodies across the UK to collect feedback from patients or relatives who have visited or used NHS services in the past week. The NHS IT system sends the message out automatically. Replying to the message won’t cost you anything. You’ll get a text if your phone number is registered as the main contact - like if you gave your mobile when booking a service, or if you’re a carer or linked to a child or elderly relative. The replies are gathered and sent anonymously to the specific NHS organisation that contacted you.

The day after I went to A&E, I got a txt from 80870 asking for a rating about my visit. They said I wouldn’t be charged for replying, even if my service provider said otherwise. I didn’t answer because it felt dodgy, like a scam. What creeps me out the most is how they knew I’d been to A&E in the first place. This has happened twice to me this year now. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number.

SEEMS GENUINE TO ME They claimed it was from the NHS The message mentioned the exact hospital and department where I had an appointment There was a note saying 'all calls are free' related to any charges Since my phone plan has a limit of no extra charges, so I can’t send pricey texts, it let me send the message without any block

I recently received a survey call from what claimed to be an NHS hospital, and they seemed to know a fair bit about my personal information. If this survey is on the level, then why on earth are they using a premium rate number for feedback? Generally, surveys like this shouldn't come with added costs. My phone even prompted me that there might be unknown charges involved. This raises a troubling question: have they experienced a data breach? How secure is our personal information with the NHS? We deserve clarity on this matter.

Looks like this is one of those dodgy text surveys trying to get info. They said it was for feedback on a visit to a "mid Essex hospital." Thing is, I’ve never even been to that hospital. Also, the message mentioned some kind of warning about possible charges if you ignore it - sounds fishy to me, definitely some kind of scam.

I was in QE A&E over the weekend and got a text about it today. It asked how I’d rate the service, with numbers from 1 to 6, where 1 is very good and 5 is very poor. It said replies are free despite any warnings my phone might show, and to text STOP if I dont want more feedback messages. I tried replying 2 for good but my phone said message not sent, showing a warning that sending to 80870 might cost me (with little coin symbol). It gave me the choice to CANCEL or SEND, so I had to cancel it in the end.

Got a text saying it was from the hospital, and when I looked it up online it came up as Pennine Care, but I’ve never dealt with them before. Their website does show this number as one for feedback, but I’m a bit worried it might have been hacked or something.

The NHS clearly knows that phone providers warn callers about potential charges when answering their surveys, but they don’t seem to update their system to make things clearer for concerned patients. They could easily offer an online form link instead, like what some banks and companies do. In this case, the NHS comes off as quite misleading, causing stress for those who are already vulnerable, so I marked this number as Harassing.

Got a text saying it wanted feedback about a recent trip to A&E. I tried replying but my message wouldn't send. They said it would be free to reply even if my phone showed a cost. Weirdly, they asked to reply "today" and I can't figure out why an NHS survey would be that urgent.

Sounds like a total scam to me, they ask about hospital surveys and when you reply, they start hassling you about giving a low score even though I actually gave a good one. Feels like they just wanna squeeze more cash from you by charging for the texts. Avoid texting back!

If it was really from the NHS the message would say NHS at the top not some random number like 80870. If you reply you’ll probably be hit with an expensive call, its definitely a scam. Best to just ignore.

Beware of the number 80870! If you pick up, you might find yourself slapped with hefty charges, potentially soaring to around £10. It's best to give it a miss altogether; even those seemingly favourable reviews could be part of the ruse. Stay cautious!

IT'S ALL GOOD, AND FREE Honestly, it's just a quick feedback request after a hospital appointment or something with the NHS, no charges to respond. I don't get why folks are scared someone wants them to call a pricey number when they're not even bothered that someone knows exactly when and where they had a medical visit to send that message?

Following my trip to Specsavers on Saturday afternoon, I got a text message the next day from this number, requesting feedback on my NHS hospital appointment. I didn’t respond, as Specsavers isn’t affiliated with the NHS or any hospital. I suspect it might be a scam, so do be cautious!

Got a text from 80870 NHS asking about outpatient care after I was treated in A&E Coventry. Made sense so I trusted it at the time. Then, a few weeks later heard some talk saying it might be a scam, so I looked into it myself. A quick Google search for ‘80870 NHS’ confirmed it’s a legit NHS feedback number. So no worries there!

If you want a real look at how folks can be totally out of touch, check this page. Plenty of people say it’s a scam even tho they’ve just left the very hospitals mentioned in the texts, they weren’t asked for any private details, and it's super easy to Google and see the number’s legit. Seriously, if someone’s tracking your every step and knows what hospital you left, you’ve got way bigger issues. Being careful is fine but seriously, think a little before jumping to conclusions.

I'm usually quite careful so I looked up this number online first and turns out its legit from the NHS for a survey. Glad to see there’s no cost involved, even tho it showed some kind of warning. I only needed to send a couple of texts to share my thoughts and was happy to do so.

80870 Got a text yesterday about a breast screening from Morecambe Bay Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. At first it seemed legit but near the end it said to "reply today as your feedback is important to us", which made me suspicious - sounds like they're rushing you, just like scammers do. I figured if it was proper, there wouldn’t be a tight deadline. Plus it had this bit in all caps saying ALL REPLIES ARE FREE, which felt a bit pushy. I've blocked the number now.

I got a text yesterday inviting me to take part in a satisfaction survey after my hospital appointment from the day before. Crikey, they’re quick off the mark when it comes to retrieving your details! It makes me wonder if it’s someone from the medical sector who’s letting this information slip to the scammers, rather than it being any case of hacking. Sounds a bit like an inside job to me, if ever there was one!

I can’t believe how dodgy this number is! My mate received a text and ended up being charged a fiver just to respond. Then, they hit her with another five quid for opting out. To top it all off, she got another message asking her to rate their service from one to five, and guess what? Another fiver was deducted from her account! Absolutely ridiculous! It makes you wonder how they even got hold of her number in the first place. Is there no privacy left these days?

I'd advise you to steer clear of this phone number. I received a similar text that raised my suspicions. There’s a clear distinction between messages from the NHS and those dodgy scam attempts. Scammers tend to stumble with their grammar and often come across as quite pushy. In contrast, any genuine correspondence from the NHS is always framed respectfully, with proper language and, importantly, the name ‘NHS’ prominently displayed at the top of the contact. Stay vigilant!

I'm based in Manchester and just got stitched up from my cheek right up to my nose after some idiot at work chucked a full can of drink in my face. The nurses were amazing, I was sorted in under 2 hours so I'd say that was pretty decent. I always look up numbers before I reply and, lucky me, 'cause it turned out to be a scam. I really hope whoever's behind this ends up needing a hospital stay themselves soon, especially knowing how vulnerable you are right after being discharged. Karma better catch up with all these so-called 'people'.

I'm from Manchester and just got stitches from my cheek right up to my nose after some idiot at work chucked a full drink can in my face. The nurses were brilliant, and I was in and out within two hours, so I'd say the care was pretty good. But I always double-check numbers when I reply to texts, and thank god I did because it was a total scam. Fingers crossed the scumbag who did this gets their own stint in hospital soon - they must know anyone fresh out of hospital is easy to target. I wouldn't call it a con job; it's actually the NHS reaching out to check on your recent hospital visits. Honestly, some folks could do with a bit more critical thinking. Take that comment earlier from someone who claimed they hadn’t been to any hospital themselves, yet their child presumably had. It’s clear your child’s records might be linked to your mobile number!

I recently came out of NGH, and just two days post-discharge, I received a text from this number, 80870, inquiring about my experience there.
