Got my Three bill today and noticed a £5 charge for a shortcode SMS dated 28/10/2016. Checked my texts and found a message saying "WIN a brand new RangeRover Sport! 1 entry confirmed clickhere for car pics https://bit.ly/[email protected] or call 0203 0868953". I never signed up for this at all. Three told me it came from a company called Zamano but didn’t really bother helping, just told me to ring the number myself to figure out how I supposedly entered some survey or contest. Proper rubbish service.

Got a text from 64500 back in October 2016 saying I was charged £5 just for receiving it! Total rip off! I called the 3 network and their customer service was dreadful - they just shrugged it off and told me to deal with the third party directly. I emailed them ( [email protected][###] ) and got a call the next day saying I’d get a refund within a week via text and had to go to the post office too. Not holding out much hope though, especially with how useless 3 have been!

Those idiots charged me £5 just for one text I got! Luckily 3 put the money back in my account, which was decent of them, and they also blocked any more calls and texts that would cost extra. Definitely ask them to do that too! I also emailed the scoreacar guys, telling them to give me a refund and erase all my info they somehow managed to get hold of.

Got a message too and got charged £5. Rang Three who have given me a refund and said they’re on the case with the scammers. Also told the PSA about it. Just had a weird call from the scammers, some woman saying she’d be sending me a refund through the post office. She sounded like she was reading from a script or something. Don’t really know how the refund will happen, as they don’t have my bank or address info. Maybe it’s sorted through my Three account. I just wanted to end the call quickly, hoping I wasn’t being dinged for the call itself.

Found out there was a £5 fee on my son's phone for a premium text service he definitely didn't sign up for. I called Three customer service, but they told me it was handled by a third party so they couldn’t do anything about it. Later, I got a call back from 01223590555, a man claiming to be from Dublin. Turns out, he was actually in the Philippines and gave me yet another premium number to ring. I didn't bother calling back - feels like they've already squeezed enough cash from us.

Got a message while I was away on holiday and they’ve charged me £4.16 just for receiving it. I never signed up for anything like that. O2 told me to send STOP to 64500 and I’ve also sent the details over to O2’s spam reporting number, 7726. They also said if I ring the 020 number in the text, I might be able to get my money back from the company behind it.

I got contacted by the number 64500 and it turned out to be a scam. If you’ve got credit on your PAYG phone, they can rip it off you. Thankfully I managed to get a refund from giffgaff, but if it happens to you, definitely report it. Also, be careful not to open any messages from them as they might drain your credit too.
