Got a call from someone wanting information about a person who doesn’t actually live at my address. When I asked where they were calling from, they just dodged the question and said they 'needed to verify some details' - yeah, right! I told them to stop cutting me off and answer my question properly. Then the caller snapped back with 'we do have manners', before hanging up on me.

Today this number has called me four times. The last call came through at 15:26, with the others earlier in the day. Every time I answered and said “Hello,” there was about a 5-second silence before a female voice simply said “Goodbye.” I tried checking the caller ID using 1471, and sometimes the number appeared without the initial zero, but since I reported it, the zero has showed up. When I tried calling back without the zero, I was advised to get in touch with my phone provider. They mentioned it might be a scam aiming to get me to ring a premium-rate number. I reported it to the police, but they couldn’t assist directly and only gave me Action Fraud’s contact. After reporting there, I received a crime reference, which I passed to my provider, XLN, who are investigating now. I haven’t tried calling the full number with the zero at the start yet.

This number keeps ringing me nonstop, but whenever I don't pick up and the answerphone kicks in, they just hang up straight away. I even tried calling them back with 141 to hide my caller ID, but all I get is a recorded voice saying something like "this number can't be called from your phone, check your phone supplier's info". Seriously, no clue who this is. I've looked them up everywhere and nothing comes up about the person or company. It's really getting on my nerves now, I'm honestly thinking about changing my number just so I can finally have some peace.

Looking at all these calls with dates and times, it’s clear these people are nothing but annoying pest. Plus they’ve been asking for someone that doesn’t even live here! To make things worse, they gave me the wrong address for another person. I reckon that's a serious violation of data privacy rules.
